I live with severe insomnia and a medical need to keep my bedroom in the mid-50s °F at night. When I decided to replace my HVAC system, I was willing to pay more to work with a long-standing company whose integrity I could trust—professionals who would either provide the right system for my need or, if they couldn’t, refer me to someone who could. During the sales process, I clearly disclosed my medical cooling requirement multiple times. The project manager assured me that Brody Pennell could provide a system appropriate for my need and explicitly tied that assurance to their “100% Satisfaction Guarantee.” That guarantee was a significant factor in my decision to move forward with the purchase. In reality, the system they sold me has never maintained that temperature range. I later learned it is not capable of doing so. Over the following eight months I experienced repeated system failures and numerous technician visits, during which I consistently reiterated the same medical need disclosed before purchase. Not once in those eight months did anyone at the company dispute that disclosure. Only after I invoked the written guarantee did the owner respond by denying that the requirement had been part of the original discussion. In the same message he stated that residential systems “will never achieve 56°F sustainably.” The issue, from my perspective, is not just that the system failed, but that a system was recommended in response to a clearly stated requirement it could not meet—and that this limitation was only acknowledged after installation and months of unsuccessful service visits. What makes this especially troubling is that I later learned that manufacturers such as Mitsubishi offer systems specifically designed for lower-temperature operation—the kind relevant to the need I had described. The salesperson did not inform me that such systems existed, and I was not told that the system being recommended could not meet my requirement. I filed a complaint with the CSLB, but it was ultimately closed because I did not have the salesperson’s assurances in writing. That the written record strongly supported my account of what happened was insufficient. I would urge anyone considering this company to read every line of their guarantees carefully and get all assurances in writing—because once you sign, those promises may not mean what you think they do.

Joshua was great - we had a new HVAC unit and thermostat installed by Kahn Air back in September which stopped working unexpectedly the other day in the middle of a heat wave. Called to have someone come out to service and was told they didn’t have availability for 9 days. Naturally I was furious, but after a few complaints the company handled like professionals and had someone out the next morning. Turns out it was a clogged drain line, which Joshua took care of immediately. Very pleased and appreciated the professionalism and urgency from the whole team. Thanks guys!

AC broken first appointment wasted my whole day 12-4:00 window. Tech arrived 40 Minutes past end of window despite my calls to dispatch which assured me 3:15. Had to reschedule- this was a headache and took multiple calls as they use AI and it does not work. Tech came back for second appt only to tell me there was a leak in my AC and he would need another service call with his supervisor and the repair would be quite costly 8,000.00 no thanks. My units are 5 years old so I'm sure the next visit would be a song and dance about how I need to buy a new unit. These places are not repair places they are ac salesmen. Found an actual repair company that fixed it in one hour. It

If I could give this company zero stars I would.. I called Brody Pennell to do a small repair on my HVAC unit and they told me THE ENTIRE HVAC system was broken and I would have to repair every single piece. The repairman was very kind (or at least he seemed to be) so I believed him. In fact, he was so kind to me telling me he was a "girl dad" that I even told him I didn't know anything about HVAC systems and I needed all the help I could get (my first mistake!) They quoted me an INSANE $14-16k for the entire repair and parts. Luckily, a neighbor told me I should make sure the unit wasn't under warranty before I paid for all the parts. I contacted the company that made the unit and they said since it was installed IN 2022 that it was still under parts warranty. When I called back Brody Pennell to ask them to come do the repair under warranty they said that they could not honor the warranty and I would have to buy the system from them (a waste of 10k++ dollars). I then found a new repair company who said they could do the repair under warranty. They also told me they highly doubted that the entire system was broken since that's very rare and that they would need to come check it out. I was frustrated that I would need to pay another diagnostic fee for a company to come look at my unit but I agreed. After 20 minutes with my system they had fixed it.... they showed me that someone had gone in and CUT MY WIRES so that the system wouldn't work! They also said that unfortunately they have seen this before and companies will sometimes purposefully break a unit so that they can sell you an entirely new one. I am beyond upset by this and the fact that they would prey on people like this. I dug deeper into the reviews and I am sadly not the first person something like this has happened to. Now my unit is working perfectly normally again and I saved 16k because I got a second opinion. Please be smart and don't believe what this company tells you!!!!
