  A friend recommended Prodigy to us so I called them when there’s a leak in my garage. Their call center is very responsive and dispatched a technician quickly since I mentioned the case is urgent and the leak might be on the water supply pipe. They mentioned that they’re going to do a free diagnosis. When the technician arrived, they did the diagnosis by turning on those faucets one by one. We started to see the leak after they turned on a bathtub faucet which is the furthest one from the leak site so we can’t imagine how the leak could happen from it. The technician mentioned that they need to open a hole at the leak site on the garage drywall and it takes $425 to open the hole. I asked if they need to open more holes and do they charge for every hole opened if the first one didn’t tell the leak site. They confirmed more holes might be opened and each one takes $425. I asked for the estimate on the overall cost for diagnosis or a cap. They confirmed there’s no cap and the cost could be above $5000 for diagnosis with holes. The price is unacceptable because I know it’s very easy to open the garage drywall with a knife since it’s wet. The technician told me I may open the holes myself and call them later if I found the leak. I called another plumber who opened the garage drywall in about 5 minutes with a knife and saw the leak pipe is the hot water supply line for the kitchen. They opened another hole upstairs in a few minutes and found the leak site. It’s a waste of my time waiting for Prodigy’s technician and the “open each faucet” diagnosis that I can do myself. Asking for $425 for opening each hole and having no caps on the diagnosis is a red flag.
