Herc Rentals refused to rent to us because we wouldn’t leave our credit card “on file” for them to charge whenever they felt like it. In California, businesses are not allowed to run credit cards without proper notice and authorization — yet Herc insists on that exact arrangement. Even worse, they require you to physically come into the store with your ID and a matching card, but then refuse to run the card while you’re standing right there! Instead, they want the freedom to bill you later at their convenience, with no authorization at that moment. That makes zero sense and raises serious questions about whether their practices comply with California consumer protection laws. If you value transparency, fairness, and control over your financial information, do yourself a favor and avoid Herc Rentals altogether.

The quoted price to me was $1400 and when the equipment was returned it was mysteriously $2700 after all the fees that were not quoted. Shysters.
