DO NOT USE BAKER ENERGY FOR HOME SOLAR!
We scheduled our home solar install with Baker back in July 2025. Install was final scheduled to take place in November 2025. They emailed us that the project would start on 11/10 with roofing work being done and would continue on 11/11 and that solar install and remaining roofing work would be completed on 11/17 and 11/18. They stated that the total project would be complete over those four days.
The initial roofing work was done on 11/10, and they stated nothing was to be done on 11/11. The solar install team contacted me 30 minutes after the team was to arrive to let me know that somebody called out sick and they would not be starting that day (11/17), but the next day 11/18. The team on arrived on 11/18 performed the solar install, took a long break in the middle of the day, and stated that they were unable to test the system due to lack of daylight at the end of the day. They said they had no idea when the second day of work would occur due to the change in the schedule.
I contacted our senior project manager at Baker to ask when things would be scheduled as nobody showed up on 11/19 to complete the second day of work. He said he did not know that weather was causing delays for them. The weather was perfectly fine on 11/19 for them to complete the second day of work. I contacted someone else, and they said the earliest they can do it is 12/4.
Of note, there is a terribly maintained, awful smelling porta-potty in our driveway that they refuse to remove, and they refuse to complete the work in a timely fashion as originally promised. In addition, there is a huge stack of roofing tiles in our driveway that prevents us from parking in our driveway. When I brought up that they had promised to complete the work over four days, CJ Lobaido stated that is would still only take 4 days to install…they just wouldn’t be consecutive days. Quite the immature and unprofessional response, I thought.
They promised to complete work in a timely fashion but have not and are unprofessional in their communication. Delays in work are not secondary to weather, availability of the homeowner, or lack of communication from the homeowner. They are slow to respond to communications.

I selected Baker Energy for my home solar due to their very good customer support, both technical and logistics (e.g. did not like the "sales pitch" feeling from some competitors). The installation went pretty smooth.
Two and a half years later, I have not had any issues with the system until now (the IQ Combiner box disconnected from Wi-Fi and not communicating). This was my first support call, which was handled professionally. Unfortunately, their technical support seems to be quite stretched, so it took a couple of days to get a phone call appointment with a technician and more unfortunately, he could not resolve the issue. Now the next step is $100 on-premises appointment to confirm the box PCB is busted and ask the manufacturer for in-warranty replacement, which Baker can install for $650. I thought I have a general multi-year warranty on this, but turned out, not on the labor from Baker Energy (pricy!).

I did my research and got quotes from four different companies. Baker were not the cheapest, but I immediately felt comfortable after Eric visited us and talked us through the options. Frankly, he seemed way more professional than the other companies I engaged with. From that moment, the whole process worked very smoothly. Yes, being construction, there were a couple of hiccups, but they were always addressed and corrected promptly. You will pay a slight premium for this company, but they are worth every penny in peace of mind and professionalism alone. System works great - we are very happy.

Beginning to end this has been a pretty great experience.
Matthew Copeland (site survey) explained my options thoroughly and answered all my questions/concerns. He was very straightforward with me.
Lauren Reagan (Project Manager) stuck it through with me while I battled getting the HOA to respond. My HOA gave us the runaround for several months. Lauren provided me with documentation stating if there is no response in 45days I am legally allowed to continue with the project. After almost a month past my HOAs set decision date, I forwarded Lauren's email and finally got a response.
John Turner, Isaiah Cruz, Jillian Hoffman (Installers). John communicated with me through the entire process and let me know of any snags along the way. All three of them were always on-site early, very respectful and got straight to work.
I was very pleased working with the team at Baker.

I want to start that I was delayed flying in SD for five hours due to fog and didn't go to bed until 3:00am so the 7:00am call was a little early for me.
My situation is I received a cancellation notice for property insurance due to mold on the roof that will require a chemical power.wash. My carrier flew a.drone over my house to take pictures. In turn I hired.a.company to do the chemical wash which did a more thorough drone review that came up with the pictures I sent you showing 54 cracked tiles that need to be replaced and several slipped slides. Before they dow the chemical wash they need tiles repaired to prevent damaging the bottom lining.
I have a very short time period to get the roof repaired and chemically clean. My house was remodeled with a new roof about a year before the solar installation by Baker. Since that time nobody has been on the roof.
These tiles don't break on their own and certainly not in the numbers I have. As such, I feel strongly that the damages occurred when the panels were installed many years ago. Again, especially since the majority are around the panels.
The call today was to discuss if Baker will repair the roof and when can it be scheduled before I lose my home insurance by Nov 8. I do have a contractor lined up to do the work next week so I can then get the chemical wash.
The call today was just a general gather information call that we spent 15 minutes providing the day before to somebody else.
As such, the call today was a waste of time which I don't have.
I need to know if you accept liability for the roof damage and if so, how fast can you do the repairs.
The person that called today was nice and professional but it was not productive.
