As a former NECA affiliate member I was excited to work with Baker Home Energy to install a Tesla power wall last year. I spoke to Baker and signed the deal in April of 2025 and with 8 1/2 months of lead time Baker could not make the install happen. After speaking with the consultant I was passed to a project manger and it was all downhill from there. I would check in every few weeks and there were times when she didn't even respond then I was passed to a new project manager who surprisingly was worse. Zero communication from their team unless I reached out to them. Every step of the way they assured me they would make it happen. I pushed Baker in September 2025 to understand what they hold up was when SoCal Edison came to my door to install a meter collar. Baker mismanaged my project and I will never work with or speak highly of them moving forward. We got close but Baker names were not spelled correclty on the contract and Edison would not accept until revised. Baker Home Energy failed on my project and it was just 1 battery wall. I got the email from Baker in November stating they would not be able to install before the year end which would be too late to receive the tax credits. Look elsewhere for a dependable company.

I am extremely pleased with Baker electric And solar. We use them a couple of years ago for a new roof , 17 solar panels and a quietcool attic fan install. They did a superior job with installation and customer service.recently, We had a small issue with the attic fan,Charles came out to troubleshoot it yesterday, he was fantastic!! He let us know exactly what was going on with it, repaired it and now it is working perfectly. We are so pleased with the service and reliability of Baker Electric. Thank you, Charles, you really know what you’re doing and your were professional throughout… couldn’t ask for a better technician! 😊👍

I used Baker Home Energy due to my past experience with them, which has been great. The current service was done well, troubleshooting, walking me through the details, taking photos to document everything. The pricing, however, seemed very high. I had the technician do the work since their previous costs seemed fair, however, after looking into the cost afterwards this service seemed extremely high. Yes it is my fault for not getting other quotes, however, I expected to get a fair price as I had in the past. Due to the pricing I will likely look elsewhere next time.

AC decided to fail during recent heat wave. We called several other companies who had open dates several weeks out. Called Baker cuz they are down the street (duh) and within 48 hours Charles and his “shadow” Reggie arrived just as scheduled. They texted when they were on their way, arrived with clean uniforms and work trucks, friendly smiles and strong handshakes. They figured out what was going on, showed us pics and other details and offered several solutions on the spot. Couldn’t be happier with their work, customer service and professionalism. Only regret I have is not telling them personally while they were here!! Let them go with two Olipop Vintage Colas and a smile but wish I had told them personally.

GUESS WHAT BAKER? We now qualify for the San Diego Community power rebate on that battery you tried to upsell us on. Thank you to STELLAR SOLAR for being fair and honest. STELLAR IS GETTING OUR BUSINESS AND INSTALLING OUR POWERWALL.
We had a 7kW solar system installed by Baker several years ago, and our experience since then has been disappointing.
Within the first year, the inverter failed and had to be replaced. It took some time to resolve, and when they finally installed the replacement, it turned out to be a cheaper model than the original inverter. I was never informed ahead of time that the replacement would be different and that it would no longer include the in-person digital display, which the original system had. I could still monitor it on my phone, but the lack of transparency about the change was frustrating.
Fast forward to recently when Baker started promoting their Tesla Powerwall 3 battery program. The concept is interesting — essentially you purchase the battery, but Baker retains ownership for 10 years in order to capture rebate incentives. I called to get a quote and initially got excited when the sales team mentioned a $3,300 rebate for customers with San Diego Community Power on their SDG&E bill.
Like many homeowners, that sounds like a great deal.
However, after going through the process, I was told our existing solar system disqualifies us, which apparently happens to many homeowners who already have systems installed. We have 23 panels so it's not small. The quote then jumped from roughly $7,000 to about $11,000 net. At that point I told them I’d pass and continue shopping around.
Instead of leaving it there, a “senior sales” representative emailed me again with a new quote of $14,000 for a smaller Enphase battery (not the Tesla system I had asked about) and said I would also need to purchase two additional solar panels.
This made absolutely no sense considering Baker originally installed my system and already maximized the roof space during the initial installation. So now the proposal was: pay twice the original estimate, get a smaller battery from a different brand, and somehow add more panels to a roof they previously said was full.
When I questioned this upsell, the response I received from the salesperson was frankly shocking. Rather than addressing the concerns, he implied that my reaction must be due to “personal struggles”, saying he had seen similar reactions from homeowners going through difficult situations.
That response was unprofessional and insulting. I simply questioned a confusing and inflated quote.
The overall experience felt like a bait-and-switch pricing strategy followed by an upsell, which is disappointing given that our initial installation experience years ago was positive.
Unfortunately, based on this interaction, I would not do business with Baker again.
