What a fantastic experience. Dropped in to explore renting a tool, and Damaris and Derek were absolutely exceptional. Extremely gracious with all my questions, and knowledgeable. I in particular appreciated Derek, who I was not working with directly, sharing additional FYIs based on the conversation I was having with Damaris, truly a 5 star experience. Great communication, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Thank you!

Update 20250818 - Attempt to resolve the issue from nearly 2 years prior was made. Better late than never I guess. I have found several other rental options and propane offerings at better rates and with better service at this point, so there will be no opportunity to mend this relationship. If the individual who served me is still there, training and empowerment to resolve issues including recovery options would be good customer service enhancements. I would guess they have been moved along after this experience, fingers crossed for current customers. I still think about that horrible interaction every time I drive by on the 91, truly unacceptable. Customer service in the moment and some empathy for what was obviously the fault of the business could have made this a glowing review for the past 2 years, instead the haste to a “we’re not at fault” stance lost you a customer and drove ongoing bad word of mouth in numerous conversations. I may come give you another chance at some point, your reply certainly brought us closer to that potential. Update 202308023 (5 days later): This morning I got an email from my credit card that the difference had been refunded. My in-store experience was unacceptable, but after filing complaints with Department of Weights and Measures, contacting the United Rentals parent company, and posting online the advertised price was honored and refunded. I wish when I shared the discrepancy in advertised pricing at the time of payment and I wasn't told I was wrong, that it wasn't their pricing (on the tank they were using to refill propane), and there was zero concern that they had misleading signage affixed (and not new) to their tank. A simple walk out to the tank, show of empathy, and working through it I would not feel like I was wronged to the point of escalating the issue through so many channels to get action taken for resolution. I even took the picture and shared it inside, so they didn't even have to walk out with zero concern that they were going to charge me nearly double. Can you say "Bait and Switch!" First off, let's get the definition of bait and switch locked in...based on the Oxford dictionary, bait and switch means: "the action (generally illegal) of advertising goods which are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or MORE EXPENSIVE goods." When I arrived and checked the price at United rentals for propane refills, I was pleased to find a per gallon price of $3.60 posted on the propane refill tank outside. For good measure I contacted PDQ Rentals (who I have previously used before and will be where I go next time...now) who quoted a price slightly higher ($4 and change). Instantly, I knew I was at the less expensive option and decided to fill up at United Rentals and save some dough, or so I thought. I had 5 tanks and ultimately needed 13 gallons in propane to top them all off. When I went inside to pay...another price was posted behind the counter...much higher at that for $5.99 per gallon. Guess which one they charged me? Well, you are right if you guessed the higher price. When showed their discrepancy in pricing I was told "that's not our sticker" and "well, department of weighs and measures has been here a bunch of times and never said anything". What an unacceptable answer and lack of care or concern when shared that it was bait and switch (remember the definition above...yep, bait and switch). Well, my recommendation is not to take your business here. They certainly will not get business from me ever again and I'll be sure to share their lack of concern with everyone who will listen. That's not how you do business, that's not how you resolve problems, that's not how honest people/businesses act, that's just unacceptable.
