- DMDanny McGeeMar 29, 20191.0Would give 0 stars if possible. My neighbor rented a mini excavator from Sunbelt. He was gracious enough to let me use it for a couple hrs. A root broke a fitting on the blade cylinder. I tried to repair , but only had a mig welder. It was still leaking. I capped the cylinder and hydraulic line so he could finish what he needed to do. I told him I would pay to have the cylinder repaired. It needed the fitting cut off and a new fitting welded on. He said he had damage insurance so I would only have to pay 10% of the cost to repair. Sunbelt sent him an invoice for $373 (10% of $3732.05 cost of repair). I called Bobcat of Huntsville. They told me a BRAND NEW CYLINDER cost $1166.88. They said a service call(mobile mechanic) would be $100 plus $100 hr. They estimated no more than two hours to install a brand new cylinder or they could weld a new fitting on the old cylinder in about the same time. Wynn's hydraulics said it would cost around $150 to have a new fitting welded on. I called the Manager at Decatur Sunbelt and asked how he got to the $3732 cost of repair. He could not explain. He said the damage insurance wasn't really insurance. It only helped pay for any repairs. I really expected to pay around $200 for the repair. If you rent from Decatur Sunbelt and buy damage insurance, don't expect fair treatment if you inadvertently damage the equipment. They will inflate the cost of repair till your %10 will be twice the real cost of repair. I will never rent anything from them again. I was a maintenance team leader at one time. I had rented from Sunbelt on numerous occasions. I never had anything but good experiences with them. I learned from our maintenance planner that all the people that I used to deal with have moved to River City Rentals. That is who we use now. I would highly recommend them.

What do I need to rent a tool?
All you need is your driver’s license or a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card to pay for the rental upfront. No extra deposit is required.

Is a deposit required for a reservation?
For customers without a line of credit, Sunbelt Rentals does not require a deposit to rent tools and equipment. However, you will be asked for payment information when you make your reservation. Your credit or debit card will not be charged for the rental period (one ((1)) day minimum) until you pick up the equipment.
For Credit Customers, we will secure a deposit for your reservation. This deposit will be held within your account until the rental equipment is returned and the contract closed. Apply for a credit account here.
If your project is quick and you only need the equipment for a few hours, Sunbelt Rentals does offer a Rapid Return rate. Return the equipment within four (4) hours of the pickup time and we will refund the difference of the Rapid Return rate. Rates will vary based on product. What if I need to keep my equipment longer?
If you need assistance, please contact the branch of the equipment rental and they can extend the rental for you. When you keep the equipment longer, we will add the additional time and charges to your contract and credit card. Please refer to the rental contract, where the day, week and 4-week rates are shown for each piece of tool and equipment.
Can I return rented equipment at any location?
Typically, equipment should be returned to the same location where you initially rented it. If you need to return it to a different location, please contact the store where you rented the equipment for guidance. It’s advisable to call ahead so we can assist you in finding a convenient alternative location for your return. Your convenience is our priority.
What is the cost for the delivery of equipment to my location?
The delivery charge is calculated based on the category and class of equipment, the location of the rental location, the distance of the project site from the rental location.
Can I get tools and equipment delivered to me?
Yes, Sunbelt Rentals offers convenient delivery options from our extensive network of locations for a reasonable fee. When making a reservation, simply select the delivery option. During the reservation process, you can specify the delivery drop-off date and time, as well as your estimated equipment pickup date. The estimate is for our planning purposes and not a final date.
To initiate our equipment pickup service, you must confirm the end of your rental via the app or by phone. Additionally, if you have specific delivery instructions or prefer a designated contact person for coordination, please include those details when submitting your reservation.
For businesses utilizing a commercial credit account, associated delivery and pickup fees will be reflected in your invoice.
To receive notifications about your delivery, adjust your settings in your account to receive reminders and updates related to your delivery and pickup.
What happens if a tool breaks or quits working while I am renting it?
Sunbelt Rentals inspects and services each piece of equipment prior to each rental and should be in good working order. If you experience problems with the tool while renting it, please go to the specific Equipment Detail page within the reservation to request service. If you need additional assistance, please contact the branch of the equipment rental and they can arrange for next steps or a replacement. If you want to have protection in the event of damage, Sunbelt Rentals offers a Rental Protection Plan (RPP), which can be purchased at the start of your rental.
What do I need to rent a tool from Sunbelt Rentals?
