How can I save my home from water damage?

As a homeowner, you never want to come home to water damage. But, should it arise, take the following steps to work towards a full recovery. First, stop the water. If a pipe leak or other plumbing issue is to blame for the water damage, shut off the main water supply immediately. Then, shut off utilities. In a major flood or catastrophic plumbing failure, it may be necessary to turn off the electricity and gas for the safety of you and your family. For a minor water leak, you can probably skip this step. Instead, you should simply shut down the electricity at the circuit breaker panel. Give us a call immediately. We may need to do a trauma scene clean up and/or mold removal and remediation. You’ll also want to get the water out as best you can, circulate the air, and remove your belongings. We also suggest filing an insurance claim as quickly as possible.
