- AAAnaFeb 5, 20261.0Zero Stars – Data Loss Due to Incompetence I had a Geek Squad protection plan for my Asus laptop. When my laptop stopped working, Geek Squad was supposed to transfer my data to a replacement computer. Asus laptops have two hard drives. Due to technician incompetence, they transferred the empty drive and then erased/destroyed the drive that contained all my data. I lost legal documents, birth certificates from my country of origin, and other critical files that cannot be replaced. I noticed the error three days later, but the correct drive had already been permanently wiped after a week. Recovery was impossible. When I spoke to a supervisor, there was no real apology, no accountability, and no compensation. No one could explain who made the error or how it happened. I also informed Geek Squad that my credit card had been compromised and provided my new card number twice. Despite this, payment issues continued. After my laptop was replaced, instead of contacting me, they canceled my payment and coverage without notice. It felt like once the replacement was completed, they no longer wanted to provide the protection I had paid for. Geek Squad is sold as a reliable protection service, but the after-sales service is extremely poor. I strongly do not recommend Geek Squad, especially if you have important or irreplaceable data.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially from a vehicle representing a business. I expect more professional and respectful driving from your company.
