I recently had a Data Recovery service done on a USB drive which I paid upfront for $338.00 and was told that if they couldn't recover the data I would be refunded. I did receive an update about a month later and they stated that their initial attempt didn't work so they would perform a level 2 (which I thought I had already paid for). In case, after multiple calls and emails going back and forth (no indication of an additional charge) they told me they recovered everything and my drive was ready for pick. Then I get to the store and I'm presented with a bill of $699.00. My main concern was throughout all the communications back and forth it would have been nice to know that there was an additional fee. Or why not just post those different fees in the store. I've attached what was posted in the store which I figured since I paid upfront I was covering the full service. All this to say "Buyer Beware", get them to lay out all additional costs upfront.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Best Buy Ajax and how they handled a recurring issue with my MacBook. I initially brought my MacBook in for repairs in February because it would not turn on. Best Buy repaired it, and I trusted that the issue had been properly resolved. However, by May, the exact same problem happened again: my MacBook would not turn on. The original repair lasted only about three to four months before the same issue returned. When I contacted Best Buy, I was told that because their repair warranty is only 90 days, I would have to pay for another repair. I had just missed the warranty period, but I find it unacceptable that a repair should fail again so quickly and that the customer is expected to cover the cost of fixing the same problem twice. At what point does a recurring issue become evidence that the original repair was faulty, that a replacement part failed prematurely, or that the underlying problem was never properly diagnosed? A repair should reasonably last longer than three or four months. The fact that the same issue returned shortly after the 90-day warranty expired does not mean the original repair was effective but Best Buy can point to a policy instead of addressing why its repair failed so quickly. After raising my concerns, Best Buy offered what they described as an exception: I could trade in my MacBook and receive $400 toward purchasing a new item from their store. They explained that the usual trade-in value for a fully functional MacBook would be approximately $235 and presented the $400 offer as though they were doing me a significant favour. However, this does not resolve my actual issue. I do not want to trade in my MacBook or purchase another laptop. I want the MacBook I already own repaired properly, especially when the same issue returned shortly after Best Buy’s original repair. Their proposed solution would require me to give them my laptop and spend additional money at their store for a replacement, which ultimately benefits Best Buy more than it addresses the problem I brought to them. What frustrates me most is that they are apparently willing to make an exception by offering store credit, but not willing to make an exception by correcting a repair that failed shortly after the warranty expired. If a business stands behind its work, a repeat failure within a matter of months should at least warrant a serious review and a reasonable effort to make. I hope sharing my experience brings awareness to these issues and encourages Best Buy to prioritize its customers instead of making them feel like opportunities for a money grab. UPDATE: I have now taken my MacBook to an independent repair shop. After opening it, the technician called me specifically to ask who had worked on it previously because screws had not even been put back in. His exact words were, “I don’t know what the hell they did.”

We bought our washer machine about two years ago in best buy and got the extended warranty for five years with Geek Squad. We had an issue with the machine and they referred us to Elite Appliance to solve the issue. Unfortunately, that company was not the best service. The technician who was sent to our home was not in the best attitude. He complained he needed someone to help him to hold the machine while he did the repair and my wife, who is in advanced pregnancy, had to help him. He came to our house twice. Unfortunately there was no technical documentation of the visits and we did not know what the diagnosis was. Second time he came, he realised there was a water leak from the Machine but again, there was no technical report to prove it. First two visits he came and my wife was alone at home. Today, third visit, we asked him about documentation of previous visits but he said he did not perform any documentation. He did the repair and was about to leave. I told him to show me the repair and where the leak was. He became upset and performed some rolling eyes and not a pleasant behaviour. I told him he should not rush and I had to ensure there was no leak. I asked him about today’s visit report. Then he spent some time on his computer and showed me a file saying he came last time and gave my wife instructions regarding the leak. However, since there is no documentation of his previous visit, is his word against my wife’s. I called the company and asked for the technical documentation of the previous visits to know what parts were changed and what type of work was done. The person on the phone reassured me he did not have to ask my pregnant wife for help holding the machine and did apologise for that. Now because of that leak, I have a humidity problem in the basement. We did not have that problem. It was a new issue after the second visit of the technician. Instead of having a solution we got a second problem which ended up in humidity in our basement.

Bought a tv in mid December, brought it home, set it up and there was a green line down the side of the screen. Contacted Best Buy to have it replaced to which they stated that Geek Squad would contact me "within a few days to set up a delivery time" it's now almost the end of January and I am still waiting on that call. After about 2 weeks my wife and I have been calling them every few days and nobody ever answers the phone! If I dont get a delivery date and my new tv soon I am thinking about cutting my "Geek Squad Membership" and returning the tv all together to make a purchase through someone that deserves it. Best Buy and Geek Squad display to me that they do not care about their customers! Membership in my opinion is a waste of money....buyer beware!!

Good service, but deal with them via Live Chat rather than by phone.
