I dropped off my MacBook at Geek Squad under my insurance policy and received it back about 10 days later. While waiting, I noticed an employee working on my device in the back. When they tried to hand it over, I realized the account was locked.
When I asked for the passcode, nobody knew what it was. The technician had set a password on my device. After making me wait for 30 minutes, they still couldn't find it and told me to take the device home, promising they would call me later that day. They never called. I had to call them before closing, only to be told they still didn't have the code.
The most absurd part? When I mentioned I had urgent work, they suggested I go buy a brand new laptop from somewhere else and return it the next day just to get my work done. To top it off, they emailed me the password the next afternoon. Guess what it was? 4535.
The employee who "helped" me, Andrea, was extremely rude throughout the process. I will never be using Geek Squad or Best Buy again.

I had a geek squad service at home. He called me in the morning and said 2pm ish I did not understand his English, then I went out to eat and figured I’ll text him to say even if you come 2:30 pm ish is fine but text me back to let me know if you get this text, nothing
I went home and did what I was supposed to do, cleaning and having a shower
But, it started to be after 3:30 pm more
And no answer on my cell by the way
I waited and did some other things around my place
And waited and got an email to say that the worker will come shortly so by that time it was after 4:30 to 4:45 pm ish ?
I know it was really late and he said when asked that he told me from the morning 2/3 pm between there, no lie
I don’t mind more than 45 mins but not more than two hours plus
I thought the company forgot about me and no matter what I said, he had a answer and it’s a lie
My task is simple and I’m not a computer person, two items, one desktop and one laptop and both are refurbished, I had my desktop computer for over 35 plus years, no lie and I never owned a laptop before, he said the worker that I only have one item stated here on his phone and is that why he came late ? I said, when I called the company a 1-800 number I said two items and o am pretty sure I did, why lie? I know they charge a lot and especially to come over to someone’s home, I just didn’t know what to do but it’s not difficult, I’m sure I could of taken photos on the motherboard the computer and put together the new one but it’s a lot smaller and different plus to take my pics out but nothing complicated, I am not an office kind of girl and not techno, I was not pleased at all, I felt it was in a hurry when now I’m stuck about my laptop?? I have to call my provider of my internet and see if they can help me?? Then the worker saw my home camera and I said yes it’s a camera but usually I have it on my file cabinet and we had to pull the cabinet out way out so I had to move it for now on top of the sofa, he said something which I didn’t understand bc of his English and I said no I’m not recorded you, it’s on bc if someone comes in my place to steal etc which I had something taken when I first moved in my apt
Anyways, he asked if I was going to put on YouTube and I laughed, confused at first and I said, I wouldn’t even know how lol and no, it’s not for the worker, I always have it on even on friends etc
Anyways, over $200 / to be exact with tax $224
Not worth it, scammers and thieves
And I thought GS was suppose to be professionals now I did not know which location they are from so I picked Metrotown, I’m close to I guess
To complain and write a bad review about GS
I got a equal last night about the survey/ service and wrote 0 to everything maybe a 1 twice only and wrote yes to connect me after 10 am not earlier
And they did, someone called and I said everything I wrote down now and no satisfaction from them
And he mentioned ( I forgot his name) about my camera and said he wanted the footage when the worker was there lol 😆 like I said, it’s crazy and I wouldn’t know how and I said, refund me and I’ll come in person to show them and take it off

I hung up
I don’t care about them as they do not care about me as a customer
My advice, do not get Geek Squad

WORST SERVICE EVER. Do not waste your time. There are perfectly good workers in the best buy stores under the geek squad name but they can't take my product back? I bought the product from this store, they should be able to provide me the services I paid for with the warranty. The fact that I need to go out of my way to return something via UPS just to get a gift card sent to me by mail just to go, again, out of my way to re-purchase a new pair. Now the price has increased so now my gift card isn't enough to buy that product. Now I need to pay for the remaining AS WELL AS A NEW WARRANTY! Had I known that's what I was signing up to do this when I paid for this service I would have NEVER bought my product through them. Why do those people even have a job if they can't provide half of what the service is?
