Bought an HP laptop 5 months ago and started having issues with the computer freezing and the battery was going from full to dead within a 20 minute period. I have a 1 year Warranty expiring Jan 17th and I looked up HP laptop warranty service centres and it was showing best buy geek squad on Cambie. I called the store to double check and told them I bought the laptop at cosco and that I needed it sent out, they told me no problem. I showed up to geek squad, sat down with a technician who went over the computer and said he has to go in the back and confirm with the manager if he could send it out because I bought from Cosco. He came back and said "no problem we can send out your computer now and that it takes about a month before I can come back for the computer, he asked" have you backed up the files"? I said no and I also asked if they supply a temporary computer for me to use as I need it for work during this time. He told me no they don't so I said okay I have to figure out a temporary computer and that I would be back in a few weeks to drop off the computer. I asked him specifically to please make a note on my file so when I come back the next time so everything is on file, he said "no problem, it won't be an issue". He even told me the latest dates to come back in to drop of the computer as my warranty expires Jan 17 and it takes time to ship out. I came back yesterday which is a 1 hour round trip for me and gave them my info and they tell me nothing is on file and that they can't help me! I gave them the description of the technician/manager who helped me and they told me that there is no manager on site and that the person who helped me will be in the next day at 9am. Again so I showed up today and the technician and manager who I was told would be there who helped me was not there! Only the best buy store manager was there, not the geek squad manager. Now they say that manager is in NEXT WEEK! Is this a joke? I get the complete run-around like I'm some idiot and that I must of been confused when everything was already set and I was told it would be no problem. They pretty much acted like this is impossible, they ask a technician if he's seen me before even though it wasn't the guy who helped me.They were ready to take the laptop and send it out 2-3 weeks ago! If I knew they couldn't send it out before, this would've been no problem at all and I could of found different outlets. Now, it's a problem when I have to leave town today to catch a ferry for two weeks to look after my grandma and my warranty expires in 3 weeks. I spent $1800 on this laptop and this will cost me massively. I've spent thousands at the Best Buy store just this year on monitors and equipment and they didn't have me on file? It's unbelievable how I get directed and told multiple times from multiple people one day that it's no problem. From best buy employee over the phone, geek squad technician and even a confirmation from geek squad manager. Than when I show up a few weeks later when I said I would and nothing is on file and they can't help me! I'm not surprised at the horrible rating these guys have. Just an absolute joke.

Take your tech issues elsewhere. Beside the mockery, them pretending to look at the issue and then saying they can’t help because they don’t have the “part” when it’s a basic computer problem is a bad look.

I rely on Geek Squad as I am terrible with technology. I find their team of experts to be very helpful. They are patient and stick it out til the end. Honestly, whenever I end a logmein chat with them I sigh a sigh of relief. Worth the monthly fee for sure. Thank you GS xo
