Two clerks were very courteous. Timing hour visit for non-busy times helps.

I've had very mixed interactions at this post office. There's a middle aged woman with brown hair (didn't get her name unfortunately) that was extremely rude and seemed like she was trying to shame and ridicule me for not knowing about how to ship packages and even made comments about me, right in front of me, to other customers in the store who were behind me. Absolutely the worst customer service I've experienced anywhere. There are two other works though that are always very helpful and pleasant, one younger and one a bit older. This place is close to where I live but I'll be using another location from now on.

The guy that works there is so rude. I tried to mail something media, he said I had to change the label because it was a priority label? I said oh I’m sorry I’m mailing it for my elderly father who can’t come in. He says well tell him to stop trying to do that ! WTH is your problem dude!

Absolutely awful customer service with a side of pure disdain for life. I have mailed several boxes over the years from many different Madison post offices and they always get the shipping costs correct. I had gone here twice prior to the absolute melt down that occurred most recently. The first time I had no issues and second time I was almost overcharged but a supervisor corrected the error. No worries there. I went back in today with the exact same size box as the previous two times and had the pleasure of interacting with the most unpleasant postal worker on the planet, April. It only took 30 seconds before s**t went sideways when we encountered the same high postage problem that was corrected last time. This time, however, April the wonder-clerk assured me that I was wrong when I questioned the exorbitant $25 + shipping cost. (Any decent postal worker who cares about their job or has even minimal knowledge of postage would have immediately questioned the high postage) When I attempted to explain how this had happened before, she cut me off and became extremely rude, assuring me that I could not possibly be right (even though the cost she quoted was more than double what I knew it should be). After attempting to find a supervisor (request denied) I told her I would prefer to not mail my package at that time and stated I was going to go somewhere else. She eloquently said “good luck with that” while giving a look one might expect from a troll under a bridge. I went to the post office downtown on the square and low and behold, they got it right the first time and charged me just under $10, less than half of what April, God's gift to the postal industry, was going to charge me! She was not only ignorant, but rude; seemingly unhappy with her life, morning coffee or selection on Netflix the night before, so she thought she’d take it out on me. Monona post office is close to my house but seems to have some employees that do not know their jobs, but what’s worse, they don’t care.
