This is why stores are going out of business. The workday is the hours you are open. I will not frequent one of these stores again I guess. Time for Amazon!

Came in on a Tuesday to get a single document scanned. First thing I notice is how dirty the entire store is, especially the floor. I have included pictures. I approached the attendant of the copy/print center, Zack, who was on the phone. I overheard him complaining to a customer (I'm guessing it's not another employee) about how much work he has to do that day and that it's overwhelming. After waiting for him to finish up the call, we talk about getting the document scanned onto my provided flash drive. He tells me that he won't be able to get to it until the next day, which is totally fine. Next day rolls around and I call the store a little after 3pm to check on the status of the scan. I wait on hold and give up after 35 minutes because no one answered. The day after that, today, I come in at around 10am. Store is still just as dirty, and I can see the same pieces of garbage on the floor that still haven't been cleaned 2 days later. There is a different attendant on duty. I explain to him my circumstance, and he tells me it should be no problem to do the scan right then and there and to wait a few minutes. Of course I'm glad he can do it quickly, but naturally I'm wondering why Zack waited so long to perform the scan? It makes no sense that the document is just sitting on the table waiting to be scanned, and that I would have to follow up in so many ways just to get a simple service performed. Why was zack not able to do the scan when I came in the store the first time, if it only takes a minute? Not only that, but they try to give me the scan on a different thumb drive than the one I provided, meaning insufficient documentation was created about the requirements for the job I was asking them to do. Obviously I'm exasperated and frustrated by this experience. Between unprofessionality discussing difficulty of work in front of the customer, being left on hold for 35 minutes and no answer, it just makes me depressed. Customer service is so crappy these days and it does not seem to be getting better. This was a notably horrendous instance. The only reason this gets 2 stars and not 1 is because the attendant didn't make me pay for the service at all. I was provided the scan for free. So you guys didn't even make any money off this job. Basically in every way possible, you seem to be failing at running this business.

Customer service in Madison is dead, especially at Staples. The employees working today were very unwelcoming. The two employees I spoke with seemed annoyed that I bothered them for help. One I had asked for assistance about their office chairs. Mind you, these chairs are $300-$800 a pop for an office chair. I should definitely be allowed to ask an employee about the product they sell. After sitting in different chairs and using my phone to research the products, since I was such a bother to the employee, I decided on one. The next one I asked if he could help get the chair for me since it's in such a big box. I took him over to where the chair is and he looks at it and says, oh well that'll just easily slide on the floor you can just push it all the way up to the counter for checkout. I look at the box and notice some damage and clear cut from box cutter, but this is the last one in stock so I say screw it and proceeded to push the box across the floor all the way up to the check out. When it came to carrying the box out to my truck and loading it, zero assistance was offered from the employees. Not even a cart or dolly and I had to carry that big fricken box all the way out to my truck by myself. I was so tempted to return the item on the spot and just use Amazon. At least then it would be delivered to my door and I wouldn't be treated like garbage for providing them a sale.

Fantastic customer service. I went in with paper questions and everybody was super interactive and responsive. Left with more knowledge and everything I needed.

Closes at 6pm? You know stores are hurting when they close that early. Basically 2-3 employees in the store, no one can help you unless you simply want to check out. Their Amazon return service goes down a lot too. Kind of a joke at this point. At a time when big box stores are going out of business, you would think that Staples would try harder. Seems like they’ve given up.
