Called the store with a yes or no question. Listened to the prompts then tapped for copy/printing services. System put me on hold. Expecting the customary 3 - 4 minutes I waited a lengthy 10 minutes. An employee never came on. Slightly amused at this lack of professionalism, I going to say I was "Stephanie" from corporate when they answered just to wake them up. After 15 minutes, I was no longer amused and hung up. I understand they get very busy and here's the truth. A lot of people WANT or NEED a job and next time, it just might be corporate. Customer service is paramount right up there with sales. Without one you lose the other. With me, you just lost both.

My company has regularly used Staples on Pleasant Valley for large document printing projects and we've never had issues (which is why I am not leaving a one-star review), however my experience tonight (11/3/25) has left me with minimal confidence in using their print services in the future. I arrived at 7:40 PM (10 minutes after my order was slated to be done) and saw a female employee in the print area. She saw me and called the male employee on duty over from the registers to assist me because she couldn't stop her task (they were clearly preparing for close so no big deal). The male employee needed her to walk him through, and he discovered that my order had not been printed yet. I was then told by the female employee "we don't work in print" and she indicated that she was texting someone who did for assistance but they were not responding. Eventually, whoever does work there gave some instructions but it did not seem like the instructions were working. At no point was I given any sort of solution, or assurance that something would be done to rectify the situation. I finally asked if they could just cancel the order since I needed the documents for the morning and it did not seem that the 100+ multi-page documents were going to get printed before close. I was told since it was an online order I'd have to do it myself, which is no big deal, however for being in a situation where the store had clearly made an error, the attitude I was being given was that I was inconveniencing them. While I do empathize that it was near closing time and I'm sure they had other tasks to complete, the fact that a $200+ dollar order was just not done maybe merited a little bit more "customer service" than the apathetic response I got. I know many of the reviews mention how understaffed the location is, and in those circumstances, it feels like additional cross training (and frankly additional customer-facing training) is sorely needed.

If the option were available to assign a negative rating to my experience at this location, I would do so without hesitation.
On 11.3.25, I visited the Staples store located on Pleasant Valley Ave, Winchester VA to have custom printing work completed. Upon arrival, I was unable to locate any staff members in the Printing Department. After waiting approximately ten minutes, I proceeded to the checkout area to request assistance or clarification regarding the department’s availability.
The cashier informed me that the sole employee assigned to the Printing Department was on lunch break. When I inquired about the duration of the break, the cashier responded with hesitation and visible irritation, stating, “Thirty minutes.” I then asked when that individual had gone to lunch, to which the cashier replied, “I don’t know; I don’t keep track,” in a dismissive tone. I clarified that I was simply trying to determine an appropriate time to return.
At that point, the cashier gestured toward another employee and indicated that he had spoken with the Printing Department associate. During this exchange, the cashier’s demeanor became increasingly confrontational. When I turned to address the other employee, the cashier abruptly reached between us and struck a can of Coca-Cola on the counter with unnecessary force.
The interaction escalated verbally as the cashier made several remarks implying that I was being “rude.” I sincerely hope that security footage, with audio, is reviewed — as such evidence would confirm that my conduct was professional and non-confrontational. I then asked for the cashier’s name, which she provided as “Amanda.” I identified myself in turn and informed her, politely, that I would no longer be engaging with her further.
I subsequently asked the second employee if there was a manager available on-site. He gestured toward Amanda, identifying her as the manager. I then asked for contact information for the district or regional manager and was told that both positions were currently vacant. Amanda continued to make comments accusing me of being “rude” and of having an “attitude” as I exited the store to contact Staples’ customer service hotline.
I have been a loyal Staples customer for over fifteen years, regularly utilizing this location for professional printing needs including POP materials, menus, banners, posters, and various office supplies. Never in that time have I experienced behavior from a staff member that felt hostile, aggressive, or threatening, either implicitly or explicitly...until this incident.
I urge Staples to review its hiring and management standards, as well as to investigate this particular encounter. The conduct exhibited by this employee was entirely inappropriate and inconsistent with any reasonable standard of customer service.

Cashier literally walked away from a line and never returned. Line was 10 groups deep and had 1 staff covering the entire store. Watched 2 employees walk out the door looking at the line.

I had a very disappointing experience at the Staples on Pleasant Valley when trying to complete a Happy Returns drop-off. The associate was rude, ignored me several times during the process, and acted as if helping me was an inconvenience. She was sighing and huffing the entire time instead of providing basic customer service.
When I asked her name, she told me it was “Linda,” but other employees later confirmed her name is actually Christina. That kind of dishonesty and poor attitude is unacceptable, especially for a simple return. I hope management addresses this behavior so future customers are treated with more respect. Also the store was dirty as well.
