**Review of Riverside Post Office**
⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5 stars)
I recently visited this Post Office, and I think it’s safe to say that “slow” doesn’t adequately capture the experience—it was more like a standstill.
**Location:**
On the positive side, the location is decent, tucked away in a small area with ample parking. However, a convenient location can only take you so far when the service is this frustrating.
**Service:**
Upon entering, I was greeted by a line that could easily rival a theme park queue, and it didn’t seem to be moving at all. There were only two clerks working, and they appeared overwhelmed by the number of customers. I waited for nearly 30 minutes, and honestly, I was ready to pull my hair out by the end.
**Cleanliness:**
The post office itself wasn’t any better. It felt dingy and crowded, with piles of outdated notices plastered on the walls. While I understand post offices can get busy, the lack of tidy organization only added to the chaos I was witnessing.
**Process:**
When I finally reached the front of the line, I thought maybe my luck was turning. Unfortunately, this clerk seemed to be moving in slow motion. It felt like she was handling each transaction as though it was a life-or-death matter. I had a simple package to send, yet she spent several minutes searching for the correct postage rate while distracting herself by chatting with a colleague. I appreciated the friendly atmosphere, but not at the expense of efficiency.
**Customer Experience:**
You could feel the collective frustration in the air. Other customers exchanged glances of disbelief, and one lady even commented on how this place must’ve been “stuck in a time warp.” I couldn’t help but agree. When I finally completed my transaction, I had lost all patience, and I left the post office with a heavy heart instead of any sense of accomplishment.
**Conclusion:**
In summary, the Post Office has a long way to go. While there might be makeshift charm in the slowness, it leaves much to be desired when it comes to customer service. If they could increase staffing and training, it could really improve the experience for everyone. Until then, I suggest seeking alternative postal options if you value your time!

Today was a wonderful day at the Occoquan USPS. Postmaster Judy was so calm and kind as she helped me figure out the best way to send packages to Colorado for the lowest price. I also had an international package and 14 other items to send (yes, I was that terrible creature with a load of items to mail during the winter holiday rush), and Judy was wonderful. There wasn't much I could do other than stand there reflecting on the gratitude I felt for the peace of the experience. The other times I've gone to the Occoquan post office have been excellent as well. I appreciate the care and attention they offer to their clients. It's a small post office, which means at times there is a line, but I've been happy with the service I've received.
