Plus I have been living in New Kent for a quarter century so I am pretty attached to this place. But something really odd happened today while visiting this Post Office. I walked in wanting to buy stamps and I was told by what appeared to be a back room mail-sorting employee (no regular counter employee appeared to be available) - and I am quoting - "we don't sell stamps here. You need to go to the Providence Forge Post Office. It's a whole lot easier that way". "A whole lot easier"? For whom? What does that even mean. I was under the impression that all Post Offices sold stamps, no? It's like walking into a grocery store and being told "they don't sell food here. It'd be a lot easier if you went to another grocery store instead". Never mind: I didn't argue and just drove to the Providence Forge Post Office and got my stamps. Just plain odd.

This is what happens when government agencies turn over necessary services to contractors instead of the highly trained civil servants. Shameful to say the least.
