    This USPS Merrifield location offers more services than some others, including a Passport Office, with friendly staff and self-service kiosks. I appreciate that it is open daily. However, during times when I need counter service, it can sometimes become lengthy due to limited staff.

    Avoid this location if you need real proof of mailing. This post office is awful. Today I came to drop 3 packages in the evening – only one person ahead of me. I needed real receipt for dropping packages. A short Spanish female worker came to me and told me to use the machine instead. I explained that machine is not a proof of a drop off if packages would be lost, I would never have a chance to proof that I dropped packages to receive reimbursement (I’m using their service for business and from time to time they lost packages). She lied and said that it is the same. That machine is the same proof as to give to the clerk with a printed receipt. It’s NOT. Counter drop = immediate “Accepted” scan. Machine/box = no scan, no proof, claim denied if lost. She was rude and tried to persuade me to drop 3 expensive packages without any receipt. Unprofessional and dangerous advice and I don’t know how it is even legal.
