SMALL BUSINESSES BEWARE! I am appalled at the persistent unprofessionalism, clear dishonesty, & lack of communication at the Madison Post Office. As a small business owner who ships live hatching eggs, clearly marked & properly packaged,I have experienced nothing but confusion & resistance from this location, despite following USPS guidelines to the letter. Since my driveway collapsed in May, the post office finally agreed to deliver live egg packages directly to my mailbox, a practice fully allowed under USPS policy for clearly labeled, perishable items. They honored this for months until today. yesterday I scheduled a pickup for outgoing eggs. The carrier finally after failing to do so, picked them up but called me afterward to tell me they “don’t pick up eggs” and “never deliver eggs.” That is an outright lie. I have every single delivery of live eggs recorded. The same staff who are now refusing me service have personally delivered these items multiple times. When I reminded them of this, I was accused of lying despite the fact that every package I ship & also receive labeled (at least ten times) with the word “EGGS.” Mrs. Jackson, who has previously been professional, was completely out of line during our most recent interaction. She accused me of mislabeling, even though the packaging was clearly marked. She also stated they would no longer deliver eggs to me, a sudden change from the policy they had no issue honoring until today. This is a chain of command issue, as it was clear that when Mrs. Jackson called me back, she had not been fully informed by her colleague Wanda, who failed to relay the necessary details. When I asked for clarification about why the deliveries had been happening for months, if this was allegedly against their policy, I was met with yelling, deflection, & her refusal to even acknowledge the USPS guidelines. I asked whether another carrier could assist me, she refused to answer. She never asked for specifics. instead shouted over me like a child dismissing my concerns entirely. Let me be clear: I am within USPS guidelines. This office simply refuses to accommodate my needs, which are not only reasonable but permitted by postal policy. The most insulting part is the gaslighting, pretending that past service never happened and treating me as if I’m making it up. Again, I have all deliveries recorded. This office has consistently refused to deliver any package marked “live mealworms” or “perishable” to my door, even before my driveway collapsed. The carrier is too lazy to drive to a driveway and knock on the door. After the collapse, my mailbox is still just as accessible, legal, but they still insisted I retrieve everything myself, in person while I’m a single parent, car trapped inside, during a natural disaster collapse, while they refuse to even attempt a pickup. If I can cross a literal river on foot to place a package near the mailbox, your carrier can at least do their part & pick it up. The last time I stepped foot in this post office, I witnessed two grown women behind the counter arguing loudly about “who touched whose stuff.” That sums up the environment: chaotic, unprofessional, and devoid of basic customer service delivered under Mrs.Jackson. After seeing this side of her unprofessionalism today, it is not shock to me her office is so out of control. Even when I hand deliver packages, they frequently sit for 2–3 days before being scanned or shipped.UPDATED 07/30 to say that today i watched my oh so amazing mail carrier, throw mail ON TOP of my outgoing package, quietly lower my flag & drive off. leaving both of my outgoing packages with me standing there.? looking forward to the morning so someone at this establishment can explain to me how my boxes were against your carriers rules! someone is definitely hearing from me. You can not just decide what is inside of my outgoing packages. This behavior is absolutely atrocious & needs to be reported to the highest chain of command & will be.

Always receiving mail that does not belong to me. Sometimes mail belonging to persons living across the county. Will seldom leave packages in mailbox for packages at our community mail boxes regardless of how small they are or if the mailbox is empty. Marks packages as attempted delivery as soon as the post office opens and will not deliver even though thay haven't left the building yet. Then gets upset if you forget the pink slip they placed in the box after they decided they didn't feel like delivering. Have tried calling to report issues and always get excuses or the run around. Very rude and unprofessional staff. Always long wait times when you have to go in person not because of too many customers, but because staff is almost never present up front. Very difficult to get an answer via phone.

I usually have a decent time coming to my local post office but after experiencing horrible customer service, I plan to travel out of my way to a different one. I was blatantly ignored and was given a disrespectful tone for no reason. It does not cost to be kind or even say a good morning (I'll be right with you).
