- RBRachel BenhamMar 5, 20221.0I went into the post office this morning (Sat. March 5) around 11:15 and asked the clerk for help is selecting the cheapest way to mail a card and small gift to Europe. She suggested a priority box. The bill rang up to $57 and I said I didn't want to spend that much and if there was another, cheaper way. She said I could buy an envelope or bring my own. I said I would buy an envelope here, then asked her if I was reaching for an envelope that was not priority. She became short with me and spoke in a loud tone to "ignore the ones from here over, they are priority." I selected an envelope and asked her to tell me the cost of shipping my items. She told me what it was and I agreed to purchase. She became argumentative with me and I reminded her that I asked for help initially in selecting the cheapest method; that I am not familiar with the post office offerings. She yelled at me and accused me of making up my request for her help. I asked for a supervisor and she said she was the only one there and I had to deal with her. I said that I had been coming to this post office for 25 years and had never been treated so rudely. She cut me off, talked over me, and threatened to call the police on me. By this time it was nearly 11:30 and, as I was putting my change in my wallet, I heard a voice from the back. The clerk said, " No, she's taking her sweet time 'cause she knows I'm closing up."
