- LSLaura SutherlandDec 20, 20251.0The stated hours of the UPS store are until 5 p.m., but, when I arrived at 4:37, I was told that my package would not be accepted because there was one person in front of me. I left but went back in to ask if there wasn’t still time. It was 4:42 and the person told me it takes a long time to send a package for which you don’t already have a label, she had to have the packages done by 4:45 and the alarm set by 4:50, so there wasn’t enough time. She was the only person in the shop, so management should take responsibility for being understaffed (the week before Christmas, no less) and for requiring the alarm to be set before the store is closed. I live 40 minutes away and made a special trip to come to this store because they were open until 5, but their stated hours should say that they’re open until 4:37 if that’s when they stop accepting packages. The purpose of the UPS store is shipping packages; it should accept them until they close. That’s a bare minimum good business practice. Addendum: I did find a UPS store on 29 open until 6 p.m. It turns out both my recipient and I were in UPS’s system, so it took maybe 4 minutes to take care of my package. There were 3 people working the store, they were moving customers in line through quickly, and I heard one of them say they wouldn’t be cleaning up and organizing for the next day until after they closed at 6.
