I’ve had repeated bad experiences when Gaylene is at the front desk. It all started when I asked for a receipt for prepaid packages to be scanned. I drop off packages in the blue bin every day, but occasionally—when it’s an expensive or time-sensitive item—I ask for a receipt. Every single time Gaylene helps me (maybe a few times a year), she brings up SCAN forms. I’ve explained multiple times that the shipping service I use doesn’t provide them. She insists other customers using the same service have SCAN forms, and I tell her I’ve looked everywhere online and can’t find it. I even said she should ask her customer and let me know how they do it. She just stays quiet and hands me the receipt, but by then her attitude has already ruined my day.
One Saturday, I came in with under 10 packages. There was one person ahead of me, and a Caucasian friend behind me with 8 packages. When it was my turn, Gaylene immediately brought up SCAN forms again. I explained (again) that I couldn't figure it out. She stayed quiet and gave me my receipt. Then I watched her help my white friend—no mention of SCAN forms. Why does she bring it up with me repeatedly but not her? I later found a review from another Latino customer saying the exact same thing about her. Is this a racial issue? It’s starting to look that way.
Two Saturdays ago, I went in with five packages. She saw me, made a face, and I could tell what was coming. This time, I didn’t greet her—I just said “can I get a receipt?” and avoided eye contact. She didn’t say anything about SCAN forms this time. Then the screen asked me to rate the service, and I almost pressed the red face for all the past times she’s made me feel uncomfortable and targeted.
But here’s the part that crossed the line: I received a handwritten letter in the mail from the Spanish Fork Post Office. I hadn’t shipped there in a couple of weeks. The letter said they’d noticed I was shipping a “high volume” and that I should use a SCAN form and drop off in the back. I was confused, since I usually just drop off in the bin and only occasionally ask for receipts. I called the number on the letter and spoke with Brianne. She told me the clerk writes down names of people who drop off “large volumes” and personally sends them letters. And guess who that is? Gaylene.
Why is she going out of her way to single me out and send me a letter just because I come in once a month asking for a scan?
For context, I once dropped off 17 packages at the Provo location (not scanned), and the entire bin was lost for 4 days. I had to refund a customer who didn’t believe I had shipped. When I called USPS customer service, they told me I should have had them scanned by a clerk. That’s what makes this even more frustrating—when I try to do that, I’m made to feel like a burden.
Even the hotline rep said clerks shouldn’t be annoyed—it’s literally part of their job. But because of how I get treated here, I now drive to the Provo Center Street Post Office just to avoid dealing with Gaylene. They have a self-service machine, and I never bring more than 10 packages anyway.
Next time I need something scanned and she’s at the counter, I’m going to ask for someone else. She’s made this personal—sending a letter to my home over occasional drop-offs and treating me differently than others. This has gone way beyond bad customer service.

Have had more than one package just sit at this location, for weeks. It’s the purgatory for packages apparently.
