I work in IT for a company that ships laptops weekly. I have shipped laptops for 5 years using FedEx and UPS. I went to this location today to ship some laptops. My usual drop off location was closed (ship center in Draper). I have the labels and everything ready to. I ran out of tape at work, so the boxes weren’t tapped closed. It was 2 Apple MacBooks and one Dell PC. The employee Julia told me that she would have to refuse the inspection on these laptops because they weren’t tapped. So if anything happened to them in transit, FedEx would not be liable. I have never been told anything like this when shipping a laptop. And I box them up at home and drop them off without tape all the time. Julia claimed that she was on camera and she could lose her job if she tapped them. We went back and forth a little bit. I was just kind of baffled. Usually I walk in, maybe ask for some tap or a shipping mailer. Scan it, get a receipt, no problem. Takes less than a minute or two. Then Julia said she would do it this one time. I asked her if she could give me proof that they would be covered. She said she couldn’t but it was in the system. I asked her how she could guarantee it and asked what happens when this is the one time ever that there is an issue and our laptops get damaged? How do I know she isn’t going to refuse in the system? Again, she gave me the “I’m on camera” spiel. So I mean… you don’t want to do it because you can get fired. Now you’re willing to do it, but you can’t guarantee it, but I should trust you because you can get fired if you lie? Uh… what? So yeah, I got sketched out and I’m just going to cancel the 3 shipping labels and do them overnight for UPS tomorrow. These were being shipped overnight. (I was dropping them off at 6:40 pm, so they’d go out Thursday and arrive Friday.). Each laptop cost between $150 - $200 to ship. So about around $450 - $600 total for these 3 machines. I work for a cyber security company. These were 3 laptops for software engineers. The 2 Macs are about $4500. The PC is about $3500. I am not going to ship off $12,500 worth of laptops, and pay $600 additional dollars to FedEx, to be told that they are refusing inspection and that if anything happens, even if it’s FedEx’s fault, that I will be responsible for any damage to them. All because the boxes weren’t taped when I walked in the door. That’s unacceptable. Tomorrow I will be revoking the individual FedEx logins of everyone on my team. Our company will now ship exclusively through UPS except for the handful of laptops we ship/receive from Canada. This was all because a few boxes weren’t tapped when I went to drop them off. Unbelievable.

I went to a FedEx store to drop off a package, and the woman at the counter seemed to be in a rush. She told me to go to the kiosk, which seems to be something new, and said that if I preferred, I could wait a few minutes. I decided to wait, there was only one other customer but when it was finally my turn, she just said, “Here’s the kiosk, you can do it yourself.” It was a strange experience, no one has ever attended me like that before.

I was a patron on 9/02/2025. I came into the store about 15 min prior to close. There were two women working. One seemed to be training and the other was about the rudest person I’ve ever had to meet. When I first came into the store she was talking in a tone to another customer as if she was annoyed. I had to ask her if the fax was working and she responded to me in a condescending tone..almost downright talking down to me. I asked if she was ok and she rolled her eyes “Its been a very long day and people have been very demanding of me so Im sorry if am coming across rude.” Then proceeded to still be rude. She even accused me of not paying for a fax. When in reality I had just gotten back a not delivered notice and had to try again. When I explained that to her she said “I believe you sent two I saw you do it.” I just couldnt understand what was wrong with her. Liv you need to control your emotions the world doesnt revolve around you.
