Madison was seven years old and had a population of 283 when Dane County Title Company opened its doors in 1846 as the first land title office in the county. At that time, the local business community consisted of four banks, four hotels, nine law offices and a brewery. Wisconsin was still two years away from statehood and Abe Lincoln was 15 years away from becoming the 16th President of the United States.
Many changes have taken place since that time, but Dane County Title continues to serve the southern Wisconsin real estate community, protecting the rights and interests of sellers and buyers of residential and commercial real estate.
