This is the worst USPS location I have ever dealt with. Before moving to Oak Harbor, my biggest concern when going to a post office was usually how long the line might be. My experiences at this location have been entirely different. The facility itself appears severely neglected. The landscaping is poorly maintained, the parking lot is deteriorated, and the building shows little apparent upkeep. If there weren't vehicles parked outside, it could easily appear abandoned. There also frequently seems to be only one employee working the counter. More concerning, however, have been our experiences trying to complete routine Change of Address requests. My household has now encountered multiple problems. I went to this location to submit Change of Address requests for my two minor children because USPS's online system does not adequately accommodate children whose last name differs from their parent's. I completed separate forms, provided my identification and both children's birth certificates, and had the requests processed by an employee. Instead of receiving confirmation that their mail forwarding had been established, we subsequently received correspondence indicating that the requests had not been successfully completed. In a separate incident, another member of my household followed USPS instructions to appear in person after online identity verification was unsuccessful. He brought the USPS-issued barcode, current identification, and a lease documenting his residence at the previous address. The employee refused to complete the verification because the lease had ended after we moved and demanded documentation showing the previous address as still “active.” We have been unable to find that requirement in USPS's published Change of Address guidance. These aren't complaints about waiting a few extra minutes in line. Mail forwarding is an essential service, and incorrectly handling Change of Address requests can cause people—including minor children—to miss important correspondence. After unsuccessfully trying to handle these matters through the local post office, I have now written to my U.S. Representative and both Washington U.S. Senators requesting congressional assistance and review of these issues. I sincerely hope USPS management takes a close look at this location—not only at the condition of the property and staffing levels, but also at employee training, customer service, and whether USPS policies are being applied accurately and consistently.

There’s a worker there who’s an old man that’s very disrespectful and it feels like he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Please hire better people who have kindness and skills. It seems like this location lacks those qualities. You never know what people are going through in life.
