I went to this location to pick up a General Delivery package transferred by UPS, which customer service verified was sent here. The employee at the counter, Joseph, was playing games, dancing around, and seemed to actively enjoy keeping the line waiting. The moment what appeared to be the Postmaster walked back from a break, Joseph immediately straightened up and tried to look busy. When I got to his counter, he was dismissive, abrupt, and completely confused by General Delivery. When I asked about my package, he became frantic, ran around for two minutes, and then got incredibly defensive, shouting "I can't find your package!" over and over. It was bizarre, unprofessional, and frustrating, so I left.I ended up going to the other location downtown (the USPS City Center Location). The lady working there was the exact opposite of Joseph—she was incredibly helpful and professional. She took down my details, promised she would be in the next morning to track it down, and actually followed through. She called me the next day around 10:00 AM to let me know she found my package. Avoid the main branch counter if Joseph is working, and go downtown if you want actual customer service!

I tried to ship a used laptop with an eBay generated label on June 10, 2026. The lady at the downtown post office advised me to generate a H label (Hazardous Materials) and place a UN3481 label on the side of the package. I have been to this location many times, and she is always friendly and knowledgeable. I followed her instructions and she scanned my package. However my package was returned with a letter saying "your package must include the postage label with the HAZMAT Service Type Code (STC), per publication 199". My label has clear words "HAZMAT - Surface Transportation Only" and it had a big "H" letter on it. The difference is the letter H on my label is not solid black as the sample in their letter. Do Bellingham post office inspection personnels really bother to look at the label before they decide to send my package back to me? It seems they don’t want to take responsibility or don’t bother to spend time examining if the label matches the regulation.

I don’t go to this post office. The reason reason is that once I handed some money to one of the clerks for a money order. She made a mistake entering some information so she called a supervisor. The supervisor took a really long time to get there like he had to come from across town, but he eventually got there. Apparently she just typed in too many zeros or some little mistake like that. The guy acted like it was a huge deal that he’d never seen anything like it before, but the thing of it is, he refused to give me my money back. It’s not the first time I’ve ever had a problem with someone there about money and this guy wasn’t as rude as the lady that I was working with that told me my bank account was overdrawn when it was not. In that instance, then I had to go to the other post office to get a money order because my bank account was not actually overdrawn So that was really nothing, I hear she’s got kind of a reputation so oh well. The thing of it is that time that the lady typed in the wrong digit or whatever the guy standing there with my rent money refusing to give it back to me. I should’ve put in some sort of complaint or something, but I just had spent enough time on it. I think the key may be that things get rough later in the day. Both of these instances occurred around four or 4:30 and maybe it’s just nap time for these people or they haven’t gotten their bottle yet or something. In any case I just don’t go in there anymore it’s a waste of my time cause then I usually end up having to go to what I call the little post office so that one of the employees there and there are that many can do what I want to do correctly with a smile and even some friendly conversation.

If i could give 0 i would. Not only did they be unable to find my package that was specifically labeled as a office pickup as it was LIVE ANIMALS i bought from a rare crustacean breeder, they sent it on a joy ride 2 days in a row after myself and my wife came to try and pick it up, claimed they couldnt find it up until i called a manager right before closing. He found it within 5 minutes. To which my wife went to go pick it up, We were told the day prior that as long as she had the same address as the package on her DL, name didnt matter. Then the man with a thicker accent began to give my wife issue because shes using my proper pronouns (he/him/his) because my birthname didnt match them, we were unsure how my goverment name was on the package when i inputted my actual name. They need younger people who know what customer service is, how to actively communicate with eachother to avoid these issues and be retrained on how they treat packages with LIVE animals. They are beyond lucky my pets are still alive!!! DO NOT EVER SHIP WITH THIS PLACE

My experience today at this post office was really negative. I went in to mail a friend their pair of AirPods they left while they were visiting from Hawaii. I used the self-serve kiosk as they had a little bit of a line I wanted to avoid. I don’t use the post office often, so another customer in line for the kiosk helped me through the process. After I printed the shipping label and popped it in the parcel bin, I thanked the other customer and left. I texted my friend a photo of the package so she’d know it was on the way, when she informed me I had forgot to add her apartment number. I went back in, waited in the line and informed the person working the counter that I had forgot to add the apartment number, and if I could add it. They retrieved my package and asked what was inside to which I replied “AirPods” and he and another employee both begin to explain to me that I can’t mail the AirPods with the specifications I chose, that I need a hazard sticker because of the lithium battery, and that it has to be ground shipping. They said on the kiosk it asked me if it had a lithium battery or not, and that I selected no. I apologized and told them that I will pay for what it costs to mail it, and I didn’t read through what I was agreeing to. I understand this is probably a very annoying thing for postal workers to have to continually explain, but the way these two, specifically one of them, went on to speak to me, was incredibly unprofessional and unnecessary. One of them repeatedly said that I lied, over and over, as if I did it intentionally. Why would I come in there boldly saying they were AirPods if I intended to be deceptive?? I told him as much. He told me I would be fined for lying. When I attempted to ask for a refund if they wouldn’t ship them, they had my fill out a piece of paperwork, which after they quickly reviewed, they informed me I could only be refunded my $16 and change in STAMPS. Who am I to continue this fruitless argument with a perfect stranger. I accept the stamps. I understand you need to explain policy, and it is probably terribly annoying for you, but me and everyone in that post office saw how you treated me today and it was unfair and unkind. I went to the other post office and they used the stamps you refunded me with to mail the AirPods. They said it is policy but also said you were rude and that they do get lots of negative reviews of this branch. I can see why. I am a nice person and a bad review is rare for me, so if you think you’re only getting half the story then I invite you to try your luck at this post office.
