I was told to buy a roll of tape for 4.99 to tape my box. The guy was very rude and told me he doesn’t have free tape for them. The only reason it wasn’t taped up was because I was out and about and figured they had a tape gun at a shipping store. I took my box home and taped it up myself and dropped off at CVS. Don’t use this place.

Just like another reviewer (Yim H.) here, I attempted to return an Amazon package today with a pre-paid label I'd printed out at home, only to have the small, dark-haired store employee tell me I'd have to buy packing tape for $4.99 because I had not sealed the box at home. I SPECIFICALLY did not seal the box because I've had other UPS Store employees ask me, "so what's in the box." Obviously, leaving the box unsealed allows everyone to look inside if needed. But this employee (manager?) guy who I encountered on May 11 at about 9:15 am . . . let me tell you . . . . On this rainy Monday, I dash into the Salem, VA UPS Store with the box and pre-paid label. The guy is the only employee in the store. I am the only customer at that moment. He's working on a database to print out labels. He tells me to please wait a minute while he does some important stuff. I am waiting. I am waiting. He says again from his computer terminal, "give me just a minute." So I give him more minutes. A few minutes later, he leaves the label-making software and terminal behind so that he can help the sole human client in the store. That would be yours truly. He says, "How can I help you?" I say I have an Amazon return and it's "all set to go." He says, "Okay, if you could buy the packing tape, which is only $4.99, that's all that's needed." I say, "I'm not buying tape today." He says, "You can use the tape today and then take it home and use it." I say, "I have tape at home and it doesn't cost $4.99 for a small roll." He falls silent, but his expression looks dubious. He starts to shake his head. I say matter-of-factly, "I will take the box to another UPS Store." He shrugs one shoulder and a small joy creeps in, replaces the look of doubt on his face. "Okay," he says, as though highway patrol has let him off this time with only a warning. I dash back to my wet car, feeling I've been tricked or rejected. As I'm driving back in a slow drizzle to the New River Valley to find another UPS Store that's a bit less bureaucratic-opportunistic, I am reminded of the Seinfeld "Soup Nazi" episode from Season 7. "No soup for you." And at the Salem, Virginia UPS Store today, it was "No tape for you." I bet this guy goes home to his family and says, "You wouldn't believe what happened at the shop today; ying-yangs came through the door with OPEN BOXES, angling for FREE packing tape." His partner, at the stove, making a nice hot meal of soup, thinks to herself, "What have I got myself into with this anti-social nitpicker?" But he interrupts her escapist thoughts with his important and often-repeated declaration. "Those ying-yangs . . . don't they know I'm trying to run a BUSINESS? . . . ." Well, sir, if I were at your dinner table, I'd let you know that my public recommendation on Google Reviews is that prospective customers should RUN FROM your business.

Marcio and Dayan went above and beyond to help me with my Amazon returns. Will recommend this UPS to family and friends
