  I’ve been coming to Staples with my kids once or twice a week over the past few weeks trying to find these squishies. They have been incredibly difficult to find, and honestly, if finding a little squishy brings happiness to my kids, I’m willing to put in the effort to look for them. Unfortunately, I’ve now had the same frustrating experience on Thursday nights — tonight and again about two weeks ago. We came in specifically to look for the squishies, and the young employee at the front register was extremely dismissive and had a noticeable attitude when telling us they weren’t available. I understand that inventory changes and that stores can sell out. I also understand the one-per-family limit. What I don’t appreciate is being treated rudely when simply asking a question. A simple, polite “I’m sorry, we’re sold out” would have been completely fine. What makes the situation more frustrating is that the store showed a significant quantity in stock as recently as yesterday. I obviously can’t prove what happened to that inventory, but given the one-per-family purchasing limit, it’s difficult to understand how everything could have sold out within 24 hours. At this point, I won’t be coming back to this location. It’s not the fact that they didn’t have what we were looking for — it’s the way customers are treated. If I were the owner or manager, I would seriously reconsider the customer service at the front register. You can tell a customer “no” without making them feel unwelcome. A little kindness and a smile go a long way, especially when families are simply coming in and trying to enjoy something together.

  Staples giving Party City a bad name! Came in to get 12 regular latex balloons filled and the manager John told me it would be an hour and a half wait. WTH. Told me he had orders to fill and those were priority in an unprofessional and condescending tone. I asked if there was another employee that could help fill them and he said no. Rude unhelpful and unwilling to take a moment to fill 12 balloons. For a managers behavior, I was truly disappointed.
