I have been a loyal customer of this UPS Store location for several years and have continued to support it through multiple ownership changes. Until today, I have generally found the pricing to be fair and consistent. Today, I stopped by to drop off a prepaid package and simply needed the shipping label attached. I was told it would cost **$5** just to tape the label onto the package. I was surprised because there was no signage or notice stating that packages must be completely prepared for shipment or that a fee would be charged for something so minor. Instead of paying the excessive fee, I left, purchased tape from the Dollar Tree for $1.25, and returned with my package ready. What was equally disappointing was the staff's indifferent attitude. There was no effort to explain the policy, offer an alternative, or provide the level of customer service that encourages repeat business. I visit this location frequently, and while there are often several employees working, typically only one person is assisting customers at the counter. The atmosphere is consistently dry, unwelcoming, and lacking the customer-focused service I expect from a business that depends on repeat customers. Charging $5 to tape a shipping label onto a package feels excessive and comes across as price gouging, especially when there is no visible notice informing customers of the policy beforehand. Transparency and customer service go hand in hand, and both were lacking during this visit. I hope management reviews these practices, posts clear signage regarding any preparation fees, and invests in improving the overall customer experience. As a long-time customer, this was disappointing, and I hope meaningful improvements are made.

As a black woman in this political climate, I am petrified to return to this location. I patiently waited for my turn to send my package off, as the staff were working diligently in this heat at peak hours. Once my turn came around, I walked up to the gentleman at the counter. I have been shipping with UPS for years and thought this would be a regular transaction. Unfortunately, for me, I had a very unpleasant and scary experience. Once I got up to the counter, I was asked for my identification card. Observing the many transactions prior to mine, I noticed that no one else was identified. Their argument was, they had prepaid labels, so nobody required an ID. My rebuttal to this illogical rationale was, why didn't they require an identification card to verify that they are who they say they are sending their packages? There was no explanation that they could give me. Visibly upset I opted to call my mother so I can remain calm and refrain from using profanity in this establishment. Even though I know they're lying, as employees they deserved the respect of expletives. During my argument, there were several customers, of the opposite race, that tried to justify this, in my opinion, wrongdoing. I politely informed them, that I was not speaking with them, and that I was speaking with the staff. Even though my state has came a great way with racial injustice, I still fear for my freedom and my safety. I did not want to make any sudden movements or any irrational verbiage that could come across and be taken as anything other than what I was trying to say. This was a very unpleasant experience, and I am fearful of legal ramifications, just off the base of my skin.
