Bought 3 new 3" binders and a 6 pack of 3M packing tape. I also dropped off printer cartridges for recycling.

This staples has had consistent terrible service for as long as they have been here. Try it out every few years when it is convenient and am shocked that it continues. Today I went to recycle print cartridges and buy new ones. I stood in line at the register for 5 minutes with others in line behind me while the guy at the register and what appeared to be a manager talked about something that happened in the store. Didn’t make eye contact or say that they would be right with me. Just kept talking. I finally walked out and then they suddenly said “I’m sorry sir”. I just kept walking, went to Best Buy two doors down and was back at my car in front of staples with my printer cartridges four minutes later. I guess I will try again in another year or so. If I was the regional VP or manager here I would be irate. Mine was a $210 sale that was lost because staff couldn’t be bothered. How many more deals are being lost?

Drove all the way here for the Amazon bins and they hadn't put the stuff out and said they wouldn't be putting it out at all today. Complete waste of time.

I had a very disappointing experience at Staples that ultimately cost them a $400 sale. While we were in the aisle looking at toner, the store manager approached us and suggested we check the Staples app for available coupons. Acting on that guidance, we selected approximately $400 worth of toner and proceeded to checkout expecting to apply the discount. At the register, the experience broke down completely. The cashier showed no interest in helping us use the app or apply the coupon and stated she was not familiar with it. There was no attempt to assist, no effort to figure it out, and no escalation. The lack of engagement was striking. Her attention appeared to be on her phone rather than on the customer in front of her. We then asked the manager to step in. He was helpful and clearly trying to resolve the issue, but by that point the experience had already soured. The disconnect between being encouraged to use the app and the complete lack of support at checkout made the process unnecessarily frustrating. In the end, we walked away from the purchase and ordered the same items on Amazon instead. This was not a complicated request. If Staples is going to encourage customers to use its app for savings, front-line staff need to be both trained and willing to assist. Otherwise, it creates a frustrating and inconsistent customer experience that drives business elsewhere.
