  This was an extremely serious and unacceptable experience with FedEx. I specifically had a valuable watch ($6,000) shipped to a FedEx Office location for pickup because I believed that doing so would be safer than having it delivered elsewhere. When I arrived to retrieve the package, I was told that it had already been released to someone identified as “L. Gray” or a similar name — someone I do not know and did not authorize to pick up my package. From that point forward, the lack of urgency, accountability, and follow-up from FedEx was appalling. I immediately asked that the surveillance footage from the location be reviewed and preserved so we could determine who was given my package and how this was allowed to happen. Despite multiple calls and attempts to follow up, I never received the footage, a meaningful explanation, or any real assistance in resolving the situation. What makes this especially disturbing is that this package was not simply lost in transit. According to FedEx’s own information, it was physically released from a FedEx location to an unauthorized person. That should have triggered an immediate investigation into who released the package, what identification was presented, whether FedEx’s pickup procedures were followed, and what the surveillance footage showed. Instead, I was essentially left to deal with the disappearance of a valuable watch on my own. Based on the circumstances, I have very serious concerns that a FedEx employee either failed to follow proper procedures when releasing the package or that there was some other internal failure at that location. I repeatedly tried to get FedEx to investigate exactly what happened, and I received virtually no meaningful response. The entire reason I chose pickup at a FedEx location was SECURITY. The fact that my package could allegedly be handed to an unknown person inside a FedEx facility — and then FedEx would fail to properly investigate or communicate with me afterward — completely destroys my confidence in the company. This was not a minor customer-service inconvenience. It involved a valuable item, a serious breakdown in package security, and an almost complete lack of accountability afterward. I am extremely dissatisfied with how FedEx handled this matter and with the fact that, to this day, I have not received a satisfactory explanation of who received my package, how they were able to receive it, who released it to them, or what FedEx did to investigate the incident. I expected far more from a company entrusted with valuable shipments.
