This has been my first bad experience since moving to the area so I will adjust my rating accordingly. I had a package requiring a signature that was out for delivery today. I waited for the mail to run so I wouldn’t miss the delivery. I saw them delivering my mail at the mail box and assumed they would turn and come down my driveway to deliver the package, but to my surprise they just drove away. Marked the package as unable to deliver and left. I tried to call the post office 3 times afterwards and my calls were just left to ring. After reading the reviews I get the idea that the people who work here don’t like to do their job. I have filed a formal complaint and hope this can be addressed and fixed. Update: changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars. I was never able to get ahold of the post office, but the mail carrier came the next day and was very kind and apologized for what happened! I really appreciate her going out of her way to apologize when most people would pretend nothing happened.

Delivery drivers aren't trained properly. They leave $1,000's of dollars of my packages on the side of the road at abandoned building on a country intersection. Or they take it to gladewater, longview, Diana or anywhere but my house. It's insane how the ups guy get it right but usps who I've given the adress they gave me. How is that even possible? They gave me the adress then refuse to deliver there. They even put the mailbox on the wrong road because of a intersection. And yet, they still don't have any notification for the drivers. I leave delivery notes and they are ignored. Every recent package has been re-ordered over and over again and they still cant deliver it to my adress. Please hire drivers who know how to read. Sincerely, a fed up tax payer.

Gilmer now has a Postmaster from Fort Worth. She is making the mailer handlers scan all PO Box packages as “Delivered”, and done away with “Available for Pickup”. I had a package shown “Delivered”, was lost for a week before recovered and actually delivered. Speaking to others there. They do not like this deception, but told this makes the Post Office look good on their point system. The problems aren’t being fixed, they are being hidden with this deception. The integrity of our Postal System has been compromised. City corruption has come to our small town.

I visited the Gilmer Post Office to mail 3 cell phones to my grandkids, they disappeared within a half hour of paying for overnight shipment. I went through all avenues of tracking to filing a complaint, just gone and only 100 dollars for the insurance was collected. Be wary of sending expensive items from this post office.
