Very Disappointing Customer Service Experience
I visited this FedEx location today because my home printer was unavailable. I went to one of the self service printing stations and used the touchscreen payment terminal normally. The terminal was fully operational , and it allowed me to retrieve my documents, select the paper settings, enter payment information, and submit the print job.
After I pressed Print, the screen remained on “Processing…” for approximately 2–3 minutes, but nothing printed. Only afterward did I notice that the printer was out of service. There was an “Out of Order” sign placed on top of the large printer, but nothing was placed directly on the touchscreen payment terminal to prevent customers from starting a transaction.
My concern was simple: “ if the printer is out of service, the touchscreen payment terminal should either be disabled or have a clearly visible OUT OF SERVICE notice directly on it”. A customer should not be able to go through the entire process, submit payment, and wait for a print job before discovering that the connected printer does not work. I currently also have approximately a $5 pending transaction from this attempt.
What made the experience much worse was the response I received when I politely brought this to an employee’s attention. Rather than acknowledging the concern, she responded with an attitude and essentially told me: “This is how we do it. You can go to the next printer.”
When I tried to explain that I had already spent considerable time at the station because there was no obvious warning at the terminal, she eventually told me, “I don’t work for you.”
That statement was extremely inappropriate in a customer service environment. I was not asking anyone to “work for me.” I was a paying customer reporting a legitimate problem that could easily affect the next customer as well.
When I asked for the employee’s name, she was not wearing a visible name badge. She identified herself verbally as “Misy” (spelling as I understood it).
I then spoke with the manager, who was professional, respectful, and willing to listen to my concern. I appreciate the manager’s response and want to make it clear that my complaint is not directed toward the manager.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the treatment I received at your FedEx Office location today.
During my visit, I was assisted by a short African American male, short and bald headed employee whose name I unfortunately did not catch. His behavior toward me was completely unprofessional, disrespectful, and humiliating. Rather than providing customer service, he chose to belittle me in front of other customers in the store, which left me feeling embarrassed and disrespected.
I have been a loyal customer of this FedEx location for quite some time and have spent thousands of dollars on printing, shipping, and business services. I also bring clients to this location as part of my business, so being treated in this manner was especially disappointing and damaging. No customer—especially a repeat customer—should ever be made to feel embarrassed or talked down to in a public setting.
I have always expected professionalism and respect from FedEx employees. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below those expectations. Because of how I was treated, I am seriously considering taking my business elsewhere unless this matter is addressed appropriately.
I respectfully request that management investigate this incident, speak with the employee involved, and ensure that additional customer service training is provided if necessary. I would also appreciate a follow-up regarding the outcome of this complaint.
I value good customer service and hope this issue can be addressed so that other customers do not have a similar experience.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
