Rude and despondent staff. It definitely has the “checked out government worker” thing going on. My package was held here due to a failure to deliver. They flat out refused to let me pick it up, or give me any real helpful info. Their reasoning being “we’d have to look for it”. Told me it’s “going to get sent out again anyway” even though the USPS info I showed them clearly said it’s going to be held until X date then be returned to the sender. Don’t waste your time with these clowns.

I have never had this much problems with my mail. Gold earrings lost with a fake attempt delivery. Multiple packages sent back. Now today tracked package say insufficient address, then when I talk to the carrier she said o it was raining to hard that’s why I didn’t deliver, now my package is no where to be found and it’s no one I can talk to

I dropped off 2 prepacked Ground advantage packages on a Sunday 06/21/2026 afternoon. One of them did not get scanned in until Wednesday more 06/24/2026 and it is now Thursday 06/25/2026 and the second one still has not been scanned in. Both were dropped in the same drop box inside the building at the same time. This is extremely poor service. Everyone should Avoid using this location..

I can understand the frustration that has fostered a good many unfavorable reviews. I’ve been a box holder here since 1995, and back then the staffing was more than adequate to handle the counter traffic. I checked with the OIG website and see the volume of mail has fallen nearly 50%. One might ask oneself why with less volume of mail is there such a problem with long lines? This post office was opened in 1984 when the population of the Summerville area was just 22% of what it is today. However, the volume dictated more counter personnel. Today, the post office handles less mail, and despite the fact that there is a greater population, it most likely is constrained by budgeting from staffing at levels on par with the era prior to the email boom. There is one constant, though and that is this. The counter staff, despite all they have to deal with is and always has been friendly and helpful. I had occasion to visit the counter recently and Alicia and Courtney were as friendly and helpful as ever. I think a LOT of the issues could be resolved by having a third associate at the counter to handle notices and pick up items from box holders, maybe in a second line and let the other two address all other items. We have to bear in mind the realities of our postal system. For less than a buck, we can have a piece of physical mail delivered anywhere in the USA and for a couple of bucks more, anywhere in the world. These people are doing the best they can with what they have providing a service from the 18th century to a 21st century world and doing a great job with it. It could be worse, we could be in Denmark where PostNord, their version of the USPS stopped delivery of letters last year. I hate checking the box and finding that notice to come to the counter and then having to wait in line, but I realize that’s just the reality of the world we live in. Think about that next time you’re in line, and try to understand what the clerks are dealing with.

The USPS agent that delivers to my apartment complex, does not know how to deliver things to the apartment door like has been requested by management. Leaves everything laying on the concrete where it can be stolen by the wrong people. And it happened to me next time it happens I’m going to file a police report for stolen property against the USPS.
