The Worst Closing Experience I’ve Had They failed to send required closing documents on time, made errors in calculating the final closing costs, and only informed us of an additional nearly $2,000 charge after we had already signed the paperwork and wired the funds. I’ve worked with several title companies over the years, and I purchased three homes through this company. My first experience had a few minor mistakes on their end, my second transaction went smoothly, but my third experience was absolutely terrible. Throughout the process, there was very little communication or action from their side. On the day of closing, they suddenly realized they had forgotten to send us the documents that needed to be signed and submitted to the building department. There were two required documents, but they only sent one. After that, they confirmed the final amount we needed to wire. Based on that information, they scheduled a notary, signed all the documents, and we transferred the funds. Then, just two hours later, they emailed us apologizing because they had “missed” information in the contract. They informed us that we now had to pay nearly an additional $2,000 because the other party refused to cover the title fees. As a result of their errors, my closing was delayed by a full week, causing unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and frustration. I understand that mistakes can happen, but the lack of attention to detail, poor communication, and last-minute “surprises” made this one of the worst closing experiences I’ve ever had. I would not recommend this title company.

I have mixed feelings about my experience with Cleveland Home Title so far. While specific individuals on the team have been fantastic, the administrative process and communication have been very difficult to navigate. The Positives: Signing our paperwork was a breeze thanks to our notary, who was thorough, professional, and great to work with. I also really enjoyed working with Bill. He explained all of our insurance options thoroughly and made everything easy to understand. Both of them provided excellent customer service. Areas for Improvement: Unfortunately, communication and responsiveness from the rest of the office have been a challenge. When I called to make our appointment, the office knew they had our documents, but my bank had been struggling to get a confirmation from them. Because the appointment wasn't being scheduled until the following week after they received the paperwork, it created a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth—especially since we were on a very tight window for closing and needed to get it on the books. Furthermore, I was not notified when our paperwork was finally filed, despite being told I would get a call, and the escrow officer is frequently out of the office making callbacks delayed. The seller also never received an explanatory closing cost sheet for her side. The most stressful part occurred right before closing due to a math error. I was informed at the last minute that I owed additional money. My options were a wire transfer which would cost $25 and take three days, delaying our closing or a $5 cashier's check. Because I was told after the banks had already closed for the day, I had to make an unexpected, rushed trip to the bank the following morning to get the cashier's check, and then drive all the way back out to their office right before going in to sign so we wouldn't miss our timeline. Since I am currently still finishing up this project with them, my hope is that the communication improves for the final steps. While I appreciate the hard work of Bill and the notary, the administrative hurdles and lack of proactive updates mean I would likely look elsewhere for any new or future projects.

A lien showed up after closing. Escrow kept saying I was prorated the amount. I pointed out the numbers to show that it wasn’t. They responded by saying “per contract it’s not up to us to recoup…” and basically told me to contact the seller. I will not be using them again.
