I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the service I received on June 13, 2026, at the Uniondale Post Office located at 100 Front Street. My complaint concerns Clerk #13.
I visited the post office to mail important documents and requested overnight delivery. I do not mail items often, so I relied on the guidance of the postal employees. When I asked which service I needed, I was directed to use the blue Priority Mail Express envelope. After placing my items inside, I asked for assistance because I was unfamiliar with the process and was simply told to fill out the envelope.
Once I returned to the counter, Clerk #13 began processing my shipment. While entering my information, he incorrectly entered my name as “Douglas Carter 3” instead of “Douglas Carter III.” He never asked me to verify my information before completing the transaction.
My biggest concern is that I paid $35.90 for what I believed was overnight service, expecting my package to arrive the next day. Only after leaving did I realize the expected delivery date was not until Tuesday. Since it was already Saturday, I believe Clerk #13 should have explained the available shipping options and the actual delivery timelines. Had I known that Priority Mail would have arrived on the same day, I would have selected the less expensive option rather than paying for a premium service that provided no additional benefit.
What made the experience even more frustrating was the clerk’s overall attitude. Throughout my time in the lobby, I observed him interacting with multiple customers in a dismissive and impatient manner. He appeared more focused on moving people through the line than ensuring customers understood the services they were purchasing. When customers had questions, his responses often came across as rushed and unhelpful rather than professional and customer-focused.
As someone who works in customer service myself, I understand that post offices can be busy. However, customers should still be treated with respect, given accurate information, and provided the opportunity to make informed decisions regarding the services they purchase. I left feeling that my concerns were not important and that the transaction was handled carelessly.
I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed, including whether customers are being properly informed of their shipping options and delivery expectations before being charged for premium services. I also hope that Clerk #13 receives any additional coaching or training necessary to improve the quality of service provided to the public.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Douglas Carter III

Horrible experience every time I walk in there. Either they are condescending or respect other patrons more than others( you can tell), and not helpful at all. I come here as my only resort but it has never been a great experience in the 20 years I’ve lived here.
