I've used this store for years and years. Recently I decided to return a product I ordered and needed to pay the shipping fee and went well out of my way from Newark NY , to Park Ave, as I've done business there many times, and believed they were still trustworthy. I was returning a compact Bass guitar amplifier that I was on the hook for, at the price tag of $700.
The process is typically simple, weigh the package and measure it, pay$38 for shipping, watch the representative adhere the label, get my receipt and go.
The representative was not unfriendly, a typical, slow Sunday at the store and he greeted me amicably. He asked what was in the box, which i had a weird feeling about after I told him, it was a guitar amplifier. I don't know why i felt the way I did, but I did. It felt like a vibe of desire, interest or covetousness... I'm not making this up. After I made the payment, he gave me my receipt and without putting the label on the package, asked me if I would bring the box up front and place it with the other outgoing packages.
Please understand, I take responsibility for not telling him to put the label on the package before picking up the package to move it. But I had this twisting feeling in my gut that something was wrong... but I didn't check myself, I was thinking, "no way is a store clerk, going to steal a customer package."
Sure enough I brought the package up front. The clerk had smirk on his face and I left the store, knowing something was wrong.
Sure enough by Thursday that week, UPS had not picked the package up. Oh and I never insure my shipments, well, unfortunately, and this was the last time I fail to do that. I had to call the store back and be treated rudely several times. I'm not going to mention names, the first time I was clearly upset and anxious, but not rude when the store manager told me I was being argumentative and having a bad attitude and as a man of integrity, can assure you and as God is my witness, I was anything but that. The 1st call I was cordial. By the second third and fourth call, missing a $700 purchase, knowing this was my fault, yeah mam, I was furious. You can't trust people today. This is not the world i grew up in.
I had to file a claim through the store, though not with the store. If they lose or "steal" a package, they're not responsible, UPS is. So no matter what, it falls back on UPS, and because I didn't insure the package, I'm out of $565 because UPS only paid $135.47 on the claim. So my Message is: be warned if you use this store to ship from, make sure you see them adhere the label to the package, insure it for the actual value. And let them bring the package to the front. Better yet save yourself the drama, choose another location.
