To the rude African American male (clerk number 39) who works here learn how to treat customers. I’m appalled at how they’re allowed to treat people at this location and a terrible reflection of the us postal system. Do better as a branch.

I had a deeply disturbing experience at this USPS location (217 E 70th St, NYC), and it happened twice with the same clerk (Martinae). The way I was treated felt like clear retaliation and racist in nature. The first time, she refused to process my package based on a clear misunderstanding. I repeatedly explained that my package contained clothing, but she refused to listen, declined service, and even skipped the feedback screen so I could not leave a review. When I told the manager I would file a complaint, she tried to argue with me instead of resolving the situation. I thought that was the end of it. It wasn’t. On April 15 around 7 PM, I returned to mail another package. She quietly asked if there was a battery inside; I clearly answered “clothing.” She then looked at me and said: “I know you. I remember you.” Immediately after that, she refused to serve me and said she would not provide any service. This had nothing to do with the package. She refused service only after recognizing me. At that point, this no longer felt like a misunderstanding — it felt like retaliation for filing a complaint. Being identified and then denied service is extremely concerning and unacceptable in a public service setting. As an Asian customer and a non-native English speaker who can clearly communicate, this experience also raised serious concerns for me about racial bias. Being singled out, recognized, and then refused service in this way felt discriminatory and, frankly, racist in nature based on how it happened. This is not just “bad customer service.” This is repeated refusal of service, possible retaliation, and behavior that creates a hostile and unsafe environment for customers. I would strongly caution others about coming to this location until USPS addresses this issue seriously.

Great post office. It works till 7pm when all other close at 5pm! There wasn't any line because they opened additional windows immediately. I was in and out literally in 3 min. They were polite and efficient. Great impression!
