All cities and towns need Post Offices and I am very happy with mine. They need more staff though so the lines do not get very long.

Drop off is broken and you need to spend a lot of time standing in line to drop your package. The line is long because only one or two windows is open and the staff is very very slow.

I had one of the worst customer service experiences at this post office today, August, 20, 2026. I was directed to come here by the post office at east 91st as I had purchased stamps from the self service booth there and received stamps which were much larger than I had ordered - they told me that the post office at 85th should be able to assist. When I got to the window at the 85th street post office, I explained to the woman working at the counter the situation. She was very polite and called over who I can only assume was her manager. I explained the situation to her manager politely, and she interrupted me saying “I don’t know why they would send you here, We don’t do refunds.” I explained that I needed the stamps for cards, these stamps were not what I had purchased, and the machine gave me the incorrect product, and how they would not work for the cards I needed. She proceeded to tell me that they would work, and took a card to show me as an example. When I said “I understand that it could work..” she interrupted me again and said “well clearly you don’t understand, because I am telling you that there are no refunds.” I said “I understand that it could fit on the card theoretically, but it is not what I ordered and will take up the majority of the envelope on the cards.” She gave me one of the rudest and demeaning stares I have ever received. I gave up, looked at the kinder woman at the window and asked to purchase new stamps, which I had ordered in the first place. I want to reiterate it was the manager who was incredibly rude and demeaning, not the woman at the window who was lovely and trying to help. I will also be calling USPS to make a complaint. I was truly appalled at how I was treated by this manager. I would think twice before coming to this location. I never in my life write bad reviews - this is the first I have ever written, so that should be warning enough. Please do better, there is no need for such demeaning and inappropriate behavior.

The clerks were so pleasant to work with. Took care of work related certified mail and was probably the smoothest transaction I’ve had in the past 5 years coming here. Great job hiring qualified staff. Finally.

Staff and the manager at 85th St. insisted they could not possibly verify my change of address without proof that I still owned and/or lived at the apartment I sold 4 months ago. Repeated attempts to explain I moved to a new address and don’t live at my old address, the entire impetus for submitting the change of address in question (which I did in advance, pre-move, fully according to USPS standards), were in vain. I had an old driver’s license with my old address and a new driver’s license with my new address. They said the old license had to be current? Unless I could prove I lived where I didn’t live anymore, they’d insist on leaving that old unproven address in their system? Comical lack of logic paired with super rude treatment. I walked south to the 70th Street location with the same exact situation and docs and they were able to complete the verification USPS itself asked for in 45 seconds. Spare yourself dealing with unhelpful/irrational 85th St. staff if at all possible!!
