  This used to be my go to Post Office when it was once 24hrs, back in the day. This is still a solid choice when in need of a Post Office that has flexible, extended hours. During my visit on a Saturday afternoon, my wait was 45 minutes. Which was fine, had plenty to occupy my time. Despite paying higher price's for shipping packages. My package which was going local to Queen's took over 2 weeks to arrive. If I am mailing off packages to the Southern part of the Country, it takes a week or so. The service left a lot to be desired, but that did not stop me from being thrilled to have my packages mailed out. The architecture of this majestic post office is on another level. The Corinthian colonnades, and the Imperial Coat of Arms of Prussia. This specific design is carved into a decorative, hexagonal ceiling panel, which is commonly found in historic government buildings, palaces, or university halls constructed during the Prussian era or German Empire.

  I went through the process to get my passport at this location, everything went so smooth. It actually was my 2nd attempt to get a new passport. the first time I went to another location in manhattan, which was complete garbage. Melissa helped me here at this location, she’s amazing !! If I ever need to go to the post office this location will be my go-to.

  This is truly one of the most beautiful USPS locations in New York City. I’ve been here twice, and both visits were a great experience. The service was fast, and I never encountered long lines, which made the visit especially pleasant. The building itself is spectacular, with its architecture and historic details. One of my favorite details is the beautifully decorated ceiling above the colonnade, featuring the crests of ten nations from the era when the building was completed. It’s a beautiful detail that adds even more character to this already impressive space. A USPS location that is worth visiting not only for its service, but also for its beautiful architecture and history.

  I visited the post office this morning to purchase a single money order and to buy the USPS 250th Anniversary commemorative stamps. While processing my transaction, the clerk started adding five money orders instead of one. I politely interrupted him and said that I only needed one money order. Instead of simply correcting the mistake, he became visibly irritated and started complaining that I was "confusing." After that, I asked whether the commemorative stamps were sold individually or only in sheets. Rather than answering my question, he silently pulled out a couple of stamp sheets. When I said I wanted ten stamps, he proceeded as if I wanted ten full sheets. I clarified that I only wanted ten individual stamps, but instead of listening, he became even more upset and continued criticizing me. Throughout the entire interaction, I remained polite and respectful. I was simply trying to clarify my order after he made mistakes. At one point, another USPS employee even told him that I had been clear in my requests, and he immediately became argumentative with her as well. No customer should be treated this way. If an employee is unwilling to deal respectfully with customers, they should not be working in a customer-facing position. Being frustrated is not an excuse for rude, dismissive, and confrontational behavior. This happened at around 10:00 a.m., which makes me wonder how this employee treats customers later in the day if this is how he behaves first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, experiences like this contribute to the increasingly poor reputation of USPS customer service. It is disappointing to see such unprofessional behavior from someone representing the Postal Service.

  Extremely Disappointing Customer Service We had a passport appointment for our 6-month-old daughter at 4:30 PM at the James A. Farley Post Office. Our entire family arrived about 30 minutes early and checked in well before our scheduled appointment. Another family also had a 4:30 PM appointment, but they arrived late. Not everyone in their party was present, and they were still trying to complete their paperwork. Despite this, when it was time for the 4:30 appointments, the clerk skipped over us and called the other family first. I politely said I thought we were here first. We had arrived much earlier and were fully prepared. Instead of providing a courteous explanation, the employee told me that she goes by their “internal list” and said that if I didn’t like the rule, we could check with her supervisor. Wanting to better understand the policy, I asked to speak with a supervisor. Unfortunately, before I even had a chance to explain what had happened, the supervisor raised her voice and immediately said something to the effect of, “We always follow our list. It doesn’t matter who comes first, even if you have the same appointment time. You guys are being too sensitive about everything.” There was no attempt to listen to our concerns or explain the process professionally. I understand that multiple passport appointments can be scheduled for the same time and that the office may have its own internal procedures. However, when two customers share the same appointment time, it seems reasonable to serve the family that arrived first, has everyone present, and has all of their paperwork completed. What disappointed us most was not the wait itself—it was the attitude of the staff. Both the clerk and the supervisor were dismissive and confrontational. Instead of treating customers with courtesy and respect, we were made to feel that our concerns were an inconvenience and that questioning the process could result in being asked to leave. Scheduling a passport appointment for a 6-month-old baby requires significant planning and coordination. Families should be treated with professionalism, respect, and basic courtesy. I hope USPS management reviews both the customer service provided at this location and the way concerns are handled.
