Both staff who helped me were very friendly and efficient, and as a bonus there was no line despite a number of customers coming through while I was there. What more can you ask from the post office?

I rarely write reviews, so the fact that I’m taking the time to leave one should say a lot. I’ve lived in this area for 15 years, and I know this post office gets a bad rap. However, the employees here have always been helpful to me.
Yes, they deal with many customers, including students from Columbia University and Barnard College, who come in not knowing what stamps are, how to ship packages, or what they even need. I’ve witnessed it, and it’s frustrated me while waiting in line. I’m sure that can be frustrating all day long. Even with that, they have consistently taken the time to help me.
I started coming in more often because my son attends Syracuse University, so I try to send him care packages whenever I can. Throughout these past 3 years, they’ve helped me figure out the most cost-effective way to mail packages to him, explained which box makes the most sense, and given me advice on how to save money. That kind of service matters.
People are quick to complain, but not as quick to acknowledge when workers are doing their best and being genuinely helpful. Honestly, every now and then they deserve a little gratitude too, whether that’s a kind word, a thank you, or even homemade cookies. USPS employees deal with a lot and often don’t get enough appreciation.
Well girls, I appreciate you and all the staff there. I wanted to make sure that was recognized.

Went to mail an intl package. As soon as the staff saw my address label, she started criticizing how I wrote the address too big. I understand that I did it incorrectly, but this wasn't a conversation to discuss what the solution was. It was about her needing to tell me what bad job I did. "Why did you write it so big. There's no place to put label. Oh my God. You shouldn't have done this. I have to put the label sideways now" and repeat. I told her I could come back after fixing it. Then she looked straight at me "I SAID I can do this. I can put it sideways. Didn't I say that earlier?" Why so much patronizing even after I offered a solution? Her sighing and shaking head continued. Ironically, the overhead signage in waiting line says something to the effect of "talk nicely to the staffs".
With all due respect, not all staffs here are like her.
