The good news is they unlock the door a few minutes early. The bad news is they don’t open until 11AM! 11-7. But they offer plenty of parking in front of the building, plenty of help on hand, and very pleasant workers. Also a do-it-yourself shipping service in the lobby. ♿️

At approximately 6:28 pm on April 23, 2025- The employee named Gary, whom works as a postal customer service worker at the 830 steward Ave, garden city NY location, was unprofessional. All I requested was for a receipt in exchange for my package that I was dropping off. He supposedly was scanning the barcode but claimed it “Couldn’t be scanned” because I “tapped over the barcode and I’m not supposed to do that ( albeit with clear tape to secure the label to the package like all other people do). I’m pretty sure it was his scanner that was the issue. I then told Gary I’ll take a picture of it with my phone and l see if he can scan it from there. He immediately called forth the customer whom was the only customer on line to service him. Which I recognized as a disrespectful gesture. When he was done with the customer he had called forth, he had to deal with me next and claimed that he can’t scan my barcode. (My barcode/ label was not small at all ). He then said he could take the package from me, he just can’t give me a receipt. So I mistakenly decided to leave my package, believing that I would see an update to the tracking info on my phone. As I monitored my phone for an update through the usps portal, i saw no update. I returned inside the post office at approximately 9:42pm and noticed that Gary ( a tall 6’2” looking black guy) wasn’t there. But there was a black woman that traded places with Him. I told her the issue then the older black guy chimed in “ that guy told you he couldn’t scan the barcode because you tapped over it.” I then told him, “ why didn’t he just type in the tracking numbers?” The older black guy said with an attitude , “ well, I don’t know why he didn’t do that.” The black woman stated, “im not digging for it because that bin is full and was wheeled to the back somewhere.” I’ve been to other postal offices and none of them have spirits as rancid as the ones I experienced today ( from Gary and from the older black man two booths from Gary’s right). A friend did mentioned to me weeks prior the this “garden city” location is pleasant to come to. I did give it a try because this one has extended hours compared to the ones in nearby towns. And the package I had to send was time sensitive. This was a horrible experience and a couple of the most rancid customer service individuals I had to speak with.

Paid for Certified , Signature verification , return receipt . Over $10.00. GUESS WHAT ,MY VERY IMPORTANT DOCUMENT IS IN LIMBO AT GARDEN CITY. This facility is a disaster . And to think my and your taxpayer money subsidizes these people . A DISCRACE .Can I get a refund ? Their answer is TRY IT . To the management there . Straigten out or GET FIRED ! These people a good for delivering postcards and junk mail. Any serious documents better off using UPS or FedEx . I will seek out the one closest to me.
