I experienced severe employee misconduct, discrimination, and hostility at this branch.
I came in to inquire about an old certified mail tracking record that was previously mishandled. Instead of helping, the window staff subjected me to a barrage of abuse.
First, a cashier aggressively blamed me for the issue. When I was passed to a second cashier, she mockingly asked if I "need a translator" because I speak with an accent. When I pointed out a discrepancy between my physical notice slip and their system records, the cashier forcefully withheld my paperwork, refused to give it back, and threatened to call the police on me for demanding my own property.
Because I am autistic, this highly confrontational situation caused me to become overwhelmed. I explicitly disclosed my autism multiple times to explain my distress and try to de-escalate. Instead of showing professionalism, the cashiers weaponized my disability against me, openly mocking me and calling me "crazy." Their behavior even emboldened another customer in the lobby to join in and bully me, which the staff laughed at and encouraged.
I had to call local police to the scene just to deal with the hostility. Even while I was speaking to the officers, the cashier continued to mock me behind their backs. The police was kind, explained they have no jurisdiction over the post office, walked me outside and advised me to file a formal federal escalation against this station.
I have historically been a proud postal supporter who wrote support letters for the USPS. Now, I no longer feel comfortable using the post office in my own neighborhood. Management needs to immediately review the security footage from August 1, 2026, investigate the window staff, and take strict disciplinary action. Avoid this location if you expect to be treated with basic human decency.

I use the hold mail service all the time… I mean all the time. A bunch of times each year for the past twenty-odd years. And I gotta tell ya, I love this crew… the letter carriers, the clerks behind the counter, and the supervisors running the place.
Year after year, they always done right by my family and me. Courteous, kind, professional… the whole nine. Nobody’s paying me to say this, and I’m not looking for nuthin. I’m just grateful Bay Ridge got such a solid crew looking out for the neighborhood. Good hard working people, plain and simple.

I had a great experience at this USPS location. It was my first time mailing a package to another state through USPS, and the employee at Window 1 was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful.
She explained everything clearly, gave me a marker to cover the commercial logos on my box, and even invited me to come back to her window so I wouldn’t have to wait in line again.
Unfortunately, I didn’t ask for her name, but I visited on Tuesday, and she was working at Window 1. Thank you for your excellent customer service! I hope USPS has more employees like her.
