  Closed my mailbox I have had for years, sending back all my mail because I didn't return a document they left in time. Terrible attitude by postmaster, as if they have some other job that to deliver mail. I have had better postal service in developing countries, I am sorry to some of the kind employees at this office but it needs to be shut down entirely and the postmaster fired. Hopefully the kind employees can be relocated to the taos office while the postmaster digs ditches.

  The worst postal service ever what do you expect in New Mexico everything is bad service in this state these people are very slow for being Federal. They are lazy they think they are entitled but they forget they work for the taxpayers

  They're saying an address that has been here for over 100 years does not exist. The only thing that might be possibly, 'new,' is a unit number, but that unit has been an existence for probably at least the last 25 yrs. I seriously think these people are just lazy and looking for an excuse not to do their job. I ordered a package and before anyone even bothered contacting me- and they had all the information to do so- they just sent it right back without telling me. I had to go online and see myself why the hell my package still hadn't arrived. The address is completely legitimate. No other carrier has an issue with it . The thing they are throwing a fit about is the addition of a unit number. Any idiot could see if they came to the address that there is a clearly marked unit number because it is a property with a couple different residences on it. We just moved in and I know that it has been set up this way for a long time. In addition, we had to go in person to talk to someone about it because it's impossible to get ahold of anyone over the phone. They were snarky and dismissive of the entire situation. In the meantime, they want me to pay $40 to get the address officially registered when it's not my responsibility to do so or they want me to conveniently open a PO Box and somehow reward them for their lack of competence. If you have any way of avoiding working with this post office, I would definitely recommend doing so. Edit: Reading the other reviews here it seems unfortunately that this type of situation is not at all uncommon. They should seriously be monitored by headquarters and possibly shut down and restaffed. This is a huge waste of everyone's energy and time. If I do open a PO Box it sure as hell is not gonna be at this location.

  We did not have direct experience per se, but we sent a box to my 97-yr old father in-law and paid for quite a bit of shipping costs. We made sure that this box were delivered directly to his residence as well. He received a text that his box was at the El Prado office; he drove there only to be told that it was at the distribution center at Bertha Rd. A person at the Bertha office told him that it was not there but at the El Prado office! He returned to the El Prado office, told them that it was not at the Bertha Rd. office, provided them with a tracking number and then, after all the back and forth, his box was there at the El Prado office all this time! 1. Isn’t there a delivery service at El Prado? We paid for this service. 2. What’s up with this incompetent employee not doing their job properly? A simple initial check would have saved this 97 year-old driving around Taos looking for his box!
