TL;DR: Strongly recommend avoiding USPS Princeton for important or time-sensitive mail. My certified tax return was lost, USPS mishandled the recovery process, and the Carnegie Road office refused to take accountability or offer a meaningful resolution. I used USPS First-Class Certified Mail to send my 2025 New York State tax return to the correct NYS tax PO Box in Albany. The tracking then showed “Delivery Attempted - Business Closed” and claimed a redelivery attempt would occur the next business day. This makes little sense for a government PO Box, and no redelivery ever happened. The package has now been stuck in that status for over a month and appears lost. I visited the Princeton USPS store multiple times for help. The in-store staff were respectful and professional in their interactions with me, but they seemed to lack the authority to make reasonable decisions or actually resolve the issue. I was instructed to file a Missing Mail Search Request, which I did, but USPS then incorrectly routed the search to Atlanta, Georgia instead of Princeton, NJ. Unsurprisingly, nothing was found. The most frustrating part was the response from the Carnegie Road USPS office over the phone. Rather than acknowledging the obvious failure or taking ownership of the situation, I was repeatedly told that “Princeton USPS did its job” and that I should contact Albany myself. There was no accountability, no practical resolution offered, and no willingness to take responsibility for USPS losing an important legal tax document. Because of this failure, I had to resend my tax return entirely at my own expense while worrying about possible late-filing consequences. At that point, it genuinely felt like I would have been better off delivering it by hand. Mistakes can happen, but reliability, accountability, and integrity matter, especially when handling time-sensitive legal and tax documents. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend USPS Princeton for important mail.

I’m a small business owner and drop off packages at this USPS location almost every day. The desk staff here have always been kind, patient, professional, and welcoming. They are always smiling and willing to help, even during busy times, and I really appreciate their hard work. I can’t speak about issues related to carriers or lost packages, because those are not the fault of the front desk staff. From my personal experience with the counter employees, I have absolutely no complaints. They do a great job and deserve recognition for their professionalism and customer service. Keep up the great work!

I have been to many USPS location and had an unfriendly service but none worse than this place. I don't know why they even have a person in the desk there. They do nothing. Only accept drop-offs which a drop-off box could do even better. For example, they did not have a tape to stick a printed label to the package

I went to USPS to mail a money order and USPS lost my package. They told me on Thursday to come back on Monday to see where my inquiry was and so I came back. I saw Chris at the desk and when I explained this to him, he refused to look it up and said there was a long line. The money order was close to 700 dollars so I told him I was specifically told to come back. It was then he started yelling at me. I told him to please not speak to me like that and why was he yelling and he said “yelling I’ll show you yelling” and started screaming even louder. This was super upsetting and lowkey traumatic.
