I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this Staples location today. I was standing at the counter waiting to be helped for quite some time when AJ proceeded to ask a white couple who had walked up after me and were standing behind me if he could help them, completely overlooking the fact that I had been there first. When I was finally assisted, I asked to have something printed that normally takes just a couple of minutes. I was initially told it would take a few hours. I mentioned that I print at Staples regularly usually every month and at other locations this type of print job only takes a few minutes. AJ then said it could be done in 15–30 minutes but that I would have to pay an additional fee. I explained that I’ve never been charged an extra fee for this before. About 20 minutes later, my order was ready, yet AJ still charged me the additional fee. The entire interaction felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive. I don’t know if race played a role in how I was treated, and I don’t want to make an assumption, but being overlooked while customers who arrived after me were offered assistance first certainly did not sit well with me. I’m a regular Staples customer and use their printing services frequently, so this was especially disappointing. If this location is understaffed, Staples needs to address that, but customers should still be treated with courtesy, fairness, and respect. This was not the level of customer service I’m accustomed to receiving from Staples.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted. I love that. I just went to return an item that I bought online from another retailer and Staples accepts returns on behalf of that retailer. I went to the return counter, was helped right away and was out of there way in just a matter of minutes. And even as I was leaving another employee, thanked me for coming in and wished me a great day. Again, super friendly... so for all my Staples needs, I will go to this location.
