Just don't. Take the extra 10-15 minutes to drive to ANY other post office in the surrounding area.

I have a sign on my porch door asking all couriers to please leave any packages inside the storm door. Everyone from UPS, FedEx & Amazon get it. Not the Post Office. Postal packages are left outside in the elements (rain/snow/sleet.) It would take two extra steps… I have been anxiously awaiting a package which shipped priority mail. I received notice that it was delivered “at or near mailbox.” I went right out to get the package. It’s not there. It’s nowhere. I walked up the street to see if my neighbors got it. They are all at work. A $100 order is just… missing. I used to order art prints. The seller would carefully package them with cardboard backing to prevent accidental folding. A bold “Do Not Bend” is on the package. They are bent in half & shoved in the mailbox. Ruined. Ditto for photographs. I don’t order such things any more bc it’s useless to try to communicate dissatisfaction to them. I get the notice “Sorry we missed you” even though I am right here in the house the whole time. I know they never attempted because the dogs bark when someone comes up the driveway. Because they don’t see a car in the drive, they don’t bother. That means I need to find a ride into town. Please! I’ve lived here 20 years & they don’t know better? I get other people’s mail, including credit card bills. It’s not as if the mail has this address on it. How am I getting mail belonging to others?

Yesterday we got an email stating our package could not be delivered. The attempt was at 4:30. My husband and I were outside working on our flower garden at that time so how was there an attempt to deliver when we didn't see any vehicle enter our driveway? This has been happening for at least the last six months.

Here’s a list for Center Barnstead: 1. Website time of service didn’t display the correct time 2. Was told a package was going to ship at a high cost, more than I had calculated - went back home to ask my customer if he wanted to pay that much, he said yes - went back to the PO and she calculated at my original calculations, so I sent it then had to issue the difference in cost to my customer (waist of my time) 3. They left earlier than they should have 4. Just sent 2 packages, it took 3 days for them to send them out. I’ve got more, but I’m tired of typing. Delivery person is good though, she’ll even make a special effort to get you your package.

They can't even stay open until 2:00 on Saturday. It has gotten better. It is amazing how one bad letter carrier can taint the system. Still room for improvement on Saturday hours. They should stager their lunch hours so they don't close for an hour lunch.
