  I had a really uncomfortable experience with Blackman Detective Services. I was one of their subjects being followed, paid for by a client they didn’t vet who has a known criminal record. They were doing surveillance outside my home, but it wasn’t subtle at all. It felt very obvious and honestly a bit intimidating. At one point, their investigator pulled into my neighbor’s private driveway and stayed there for a while while taking photos. From what I could tell, my home was being observed and reviewed on an hourly basis. It raised concerns for me about whether it was appropriate or legal to be on private property like that without permission. It didn’t feel like a quick turnaround or incidental stop. It felt like they were lingering and actively observing the area. The situation made me so uncomfortable that I went back and reviewed my security footage, and it clearly shows a dark-colored vehicle pulling into the driveway and remaining there. Seeing it on video only confirmed how intrusive it felt in the moment. I am including that context here because it directly reflects what I experienced and observed. Overall, their presence was very noticeable and not discreet. I understand private investigators have a job to do, but there’s a way to do it without making people feel harassed or crossing boundaries.

  My wife's office manager recorded one of their employees removing the tracker from her car at her office. My wife confronted me about it, and it totally kneecap me ahead of my divorce proceeding. They failed one the fundamental part of their job and the implication to me is astounding. Despite all of this, there's $850 on my retainer and they refuse to give it back. I'm not saying they are a bad PI firm, they have a great reputation, but they put me an awful position and will not refund my money. They will likely respond that I used awful language in an email to admonish them for putting me a terrible position for my divorce and not refunding my money. And I will standby that anger all day. Sending a tough email to someone is not at all comparable to a phone call or a personal interaction
