I genuinely understand why this post office is sitting around three stars. Frankly, I’m surprised it’s that high.
The biggest problem here is not one isolated mistake—it’s the unbelievably low standard of customer service and the complete lack of concern for people’s mail. The people sent out to deliver mail have repeatedly come across as poorly informed, careless, and completely indifferent to whether your mail actually gets where it is supposed to go. When you are handling people’s packages, documents, checks, correspondence, and other important items, “I don’t know and I don’t care” is not an acceptable standard.
And then there’s Angela. Instead of simply listening to a customer, answering the concern, and trying to resolve the problem, the interaction turned into unnecessary argumentativeness and back-and-forth. She seemed more interested in disputing what the customer was saying than actually helping. That is not customer service. If somebody comes in because there is already a problem with their mail, the last thing they need is an employee making the situation even more frustrating by being combative about it.
That attitude unfortunately feels representative of a much bigger issue at this location. Too many employees seem lost, poorly trained, rude, or just completely checked out. There appears to be very little ownership when something goes wrong and very little urgency about fixing it. This office desperately needs stronger leadership, better training, and somebody willing to establish an actual standard for how customers—and their mail—are treated.
I will say that I’ve met two or three genuinely kind and helpful employees when dropping mail off here, and thank God for them. They are the reason I can acknowledge that not literally everyone working here is terrible. Unfortunately, they stand out precisely because the overall experience is so consistently bad.
This is the closest post office to me, which is basically the only reason I continue using it. Otherwise, I would happily go somewhere else.
If you don’t care about doing your job properly, especially when that job involves handling other people’s mail, then maybe you should not be doing that job. Customers should not have to lower their expectations to match the standards of the employees.
There is a serious leadership and accountability problem here, and until somebody addresses it, the three-star overall rating makes perfect sense.
