  Five stars for the people who work here but zero stars for their effectiveness as they're understaffed, overworked, and probably underpaid. The place looks like it's abandoned, straight out of an apocalyptic movie. The supplies are scant, some of it still in boxes (in areas customers are not allowed to venture into). I had to wait in line just to get the right size priority mail envelope. The lady at the counter was kind enough to instruct me to come right back to her when I was done preparing my shipment. I told her I'd just throw it down the chute and save her some time. The chute was locked (only once before have I experienced that, in thirty five years of going to the post office, while someone was audibly unloading the cart that sits behind the wall; no one was doing that in this case though). I went back and handed her the envelope (before 2pm). It apparently sat at the post office until the following evening at 9pm. Outrageous. I should have been able to be in and out in a minute or two and didn't need to interact with anyone. Instead, I wasted at least 15 minutes and my shipment wasted an entire day. It's embarrassing what's happening to the USPS under this administration. Instead of helping them grow and become stronger, we're running them into the ground.

  No issue but for the size and the busyness of the place, I was surprised that they did not have a drop off bin for Express packages. A nice man at the counter however was kind enough to take mine so I didn't have to wait in the mile long line.

  Giving kudos to MATTHEWS PIST OFFICE. Some the staff there has been a part of this post office for many, many years. They make waiting in long lines bearable...with their quick withdrawal and wonderful people skills. Be sure and drop by. They are helpful, and very good at their jobs!

  I had a package to mail and Shannon was so kind and helpful. He went out of his way to explain some things I didn’t know and helped me figure out the best way to send it. I of course left the label at home. He spoke right up and told me to go print it at the library. (Which I forgot was right behind the post office). So I was able to quickly run over there to print it and when I came back. He helped make sure everything was right before I left. He the definition of what great customer service should look like.
